Hi all, I have been offered some parts from a deceased estate, I want to give the widow a fair price but considering the condition and the fact that I would have to move the half cut & do a cleanup, I would like some idea's on what I should pay & sell for, the halfcut has been out in the weather for some years, it did have a tarp over it in the early days but as you can see from the pics that has rotted away, also if anybody is interested please say so, I won't be keeping the engine as mine is NA and this is TT so..., there are also some more parts I have not yet seen that I will put up as soon as I can get access to them in a week or two. What a bloody shame they didn't put it all away in the shed!
I wouldn't pay more than the scrap value for it, maybe $100, unless you know the engine is running. It may be OK, but if any waters made its way inside, it's probably going to need a full rebuild.
Not worth much in it's current condition, the time for selling that thing off was probably over five years ago. If you have the patience to part out bits that are still usable might get a couple hundred out of it, very few components will be usable without a rebuild/refurbish.
In 50 years time when Z32s and their parts are very rare you might get something for parts in that condition but today ... I think you'd be doing the owner a favor by taking them to the tip for free.
All the plastics in the halfcut are shot as weather conditions will have affected their chemical makeup, i'd hazard a guess and say most of the exposed metal components on the engine will be seized, the wiring if any will be so brittle it'll crumble like a dried out old biscuit. If you want too offer her a couple of hundred to help her out then that's fine, but don't expect to make much money out of resale of items.
As long as the bores have been kept out of the weather and the rings have not seized to the bores and damaged them it would be ok to use. Heads would be the same. They would be ok with a cleanup. If i was closer id be interested to strip and build a spare on the side.
Not worth anything. The most valuable part you can salvage out of that is the headlight glass. You're in QLD too I see, pretty humid up there... not exactly the ideal conditions for storing an engine indefinitely out in the open. Most wreckers won't even bother with that thing unless it's for scrap metal value.
Are you sure that's actually from a Z, could be space junk or even shit from Skylab (the first US space station - re entered the earth's atmosphere over Australia in the 1980's - you should like call NASA !
