Hey guys, bit of an issue with my zed. Basically, I just bled the lifters, cleaned a few things here and there, replaced the injectors and a few other pipes here and there. Now there is oil in there, check the dipstick and it's all good. I have oil pressure, just below 4 on idle. Now here's the problem. There is no oil getting to the cams. At all. So it sounds like a truck at the moment. :S Is this a common problem?? Any help much appreciated. Cheers guys
If you cleaned the lifters and reinstalled them. It does take a little time for them to fully refill. How long has it been since you restarted it after dissasembly? Did you partially fill them with oil after you ressembled them?
It was sitting for a few weeks before I started it, but yeah I filled and oiled everything before I replaced. Probs didn't fill them completely.... It's pretty loud but.
The noise your hearing is the the camshafts beating the part filled lifters up. If your car has been sitting for a few weeks un-started this is common for some zeds and a little unnerving when you first hear it, if in fact that is the problem. The cure is take it for a drive, the lifters will pump up, and the noise will cease in a short time, hopefully.
i replaced my timming belt a month ago , the car had been sitting a month and when i started it up i thought i had killed it by putting the belt on wrong. I shut it down quick smart then posted a question about the noise as i was 99% sure the belt was installed correctly . The replys where similiar to the ones you are getting that it takes a while for the oil to get into the lifters. I went out and started it the next day still worrried and the noise was gone ?. Looks like it takes a while to get the oil in there when it's ben sitting for a while. Cheers Dave
