maybe your oil pressure unit is on its way o

ut. Mine did exactly the same thing then just stopped working totally. This happened about 6months ago and i still havn't had time to fix it :p

    Same problem

It could be the pressure relief valve or as you say the pressure sensor. As the oil warning light never comes on, the best bet is the sensor.

    5w50 too thin

the service manual puts the lower limit for oil at about 10w40 for our conditions. maybe look into replacing

    I agree, having probs myself.

Not really problems but, I've just had my oil pressure switch/sensor replace and am using 5W50 Mobil 1 Super Synth, I'm finding the same thing is happening, and with out an owners manual to tell me what oil to use I find that next oil change in goes some thicker stuff.

    service manual here

If you ever need a quick look up to check some stuff out it can be found here, the online version of the service manual. Many people on here have it on CD, me included.

    good idea Stillen.....but it's flawed

have you seen how big the damn service manual is?!!!! I mean seriously with the good ol bubble jet plotting away at the speed of a damn dot-matrix I would've been through 50 cars by the time it's finished printing the whole thing!! Plus if I were to do it at work, try and explain how come a new cartridge was used in 2 days??:(

So what's the normal reading for the

guage to sit on with the correct oil at idle when she is warm??

    For the nissan unit......

at warm idle, the gauge should read 2. While driving, it should read 4. When started cold, it should read 6 and eventually move down to 2.
