Hey guys, I did a oil and oil filter change on the weekend, and when driving around yesterday I noticed the oil pressure guage drop to zero. So i pulled over, turned her off and waited around 10 minutes for the oil to return to the sump.

Checked the level and it was still full, so im guessing from that that it wasn't a catistrophic leak that caused the drop in pressure...

So I was wondering if anyone has seen anything similar and what caused it, any suggestions would help thanks.

I did use search and from what I can see there it could just be that the sensor died, but would it happen that suddenly?

I agree, it happened to me with my N/A recently.

I changed oil and filter then drove the 5 hours from Cbra to Port Stevens area. About 60kms out of CBRA, the oil pressure dropped to almost 0 for about 10-20 mins. I checked to oil level during this period and it was fine. Other than that, with the engine warm, when mainataining a speed, it sits just below 4.

It's not something to worry about.

    cheers,

    Peter

some days mine kinda works, some days not ...

what were we talking about ? oh yeah, oil pressure guages ;)

Its the sender not the guage

that's the culprit. Notorious pieces of crap. We all have the same problem from time to time. I drilled out the hole in the sender to 1.5mm which helped a bit but it still has a mind of its own.

    only works when cold

my oil pressure guage only works when the car is cold, once she's warm it sits on zero most of the time. sometimes it might go up to four, but not for long.
i drove it from sydney to melborne and up the great ocean road and back again and she's still running sweet.
ps great ocean road is the best!
i recomend it to all z owners
