I have five zeds and changing engine oil is a routine event at my place. I have found that when I use Nulon Oil Flush just prior to changing my oil I have almost eliminated lifter noise in all zeds. Apparently, the oil flush is concentrated detergent that removes oil scum from the motor. - and it works! I also find the Valvoline full synthetic oil 10W/50 (thanks RZM) is good stuff and I change oil at every 5000 km with a new oil filter. Cheers PS: If you have a cracked piston ring then the oil system will be severely pressurised resulting in blown front and rear oil seals - your zed will piss oil all over the garage floor!
How long do you need to run it for? Is it something you can just put in, run for a few minutes then drain the oil? Or does it need a 25-50 or so Ks to do its work? Thanks, Donovan
Indeed, it is quite good. Just follow the directions i believe it said let the car idle for 15 mins with the stuff in. But i dont bother using it anymore as replacing the oil every 5000k's on a freshly rebuilt engine, should have close to nothing sludgy etc in the engine. but definately good if you havent had an oil change in a long time!!
Thats what i did when i changed to Amsoil synthetic, just that i used amsoil engine flush aswell, top stuff
i did that as well, put the flush in idled it for 15 minutes or so, then changed the oil and filter, but then i only ran the car for 1000km and gave it another oil and filter change just to get any remaining crap out of the engine, oil stay clean for about 3500km now then starts to dirty up a little, i change it every 5000km and has been running sweet since i started doing it, i have done about 13,000km in the car now in about 6 months, at about $120 per oil change its a little expensive but definitely worth it i reckon, i use motul300v competition and just a repco oil filter
Same here...... ran the Nulon oil flush in the car at idle for 15mins........it definitely helped!! ......but I intend to do another oil & filter change around 2000kms to try to ensure as little residue as possible has been left in the engine!!
oil flush I have been using NULON oil flush since i have owned my car and found it to be good, and then top it up every 5,000ks with Shell Helix ULTRA and have found it to be a good oil. Its interesting to hear what people are using and doing in the way of oil changes cheers guys FISH:zlove:
Change every $5000 k too use motul 4100 semi synthetic or motul 300V if the funds allow. I find my oil get dirty fairly quick so the oil flush sound like a great idea to me. Now heres the dumb question! have never used an oil flush before. last car had a fully rebuilt engine so saw no need. Is it added to the oil before draining it or do you drain then add the flush and run the car?
Hi I used to use mobil 1 synthetic oil 5w/50 I think it was, changed oil filter every time plus engine oil flush. Changing before 5k and its been prity filfy every time, also one or so of the lifters is stuck, wasn't when I brought it, I just changed to Castrol edge 10W/60 synthetic and the car seems to like it, less ticking, can bearly hear it. Its expensive but, I'll have to wait and see if its any cleaner next change.cheers
make sure the engine is at opperating tempture, add the flush, run for 15-20 minutes, then drain and add new oil.
