Hey guys, recently had the timing on my zed corrected, now I have another problem; there is nearly no oil at the top of the engine. One of the lifters has gone and it sounds like a truck. :S
my mate is working on it at his workshop but before he starts pulling parts out I thought I should consult you guys. Has anyone had a similar problem? I was thinking maybe just a blockage somewhere

any help is much appreciated, thanks

i would check your oil pickup and maybe see if your oil filter hasn't collapsed.

does you gauge show oil pressure

Yes, this. Also check the condition of the sump, if it's bashed in at all then that can cause oil pressure issues.

Yeah the gauge works and the oil pressure is fine, filter is intact.

how do you know heads are not getting oil. probably just a stuffed lifter take your cams out and pull your buckets off you might just need to compress them up to get the shit out of them. your heads wont be flooded with oil.

That's what my mate told me. He's working on it. But there is a stuffed lifter.

With the engine running, remove the oil filler cap. You should see plenty of oil being flicked off of the cam lobes. If you dont have this, there is no oil flow to the top end. Another simple check is to disconnect the VTC solenoids, if the engine rpm drops and begins running rough, the VTC is working, if the VTC works, you definatley have oil flow to the top end.
