Was thinking of actually taking my car out for a drive this weekend, being mother's day and all, my Zed used to be my little baby what do i need to check? i drove it home from the mechanics in Jan, drove it to the mechanices last Dec, and drove it to Warwick and back last May. That is literally all it's done in the last year!!! so, what do i need to do before i take her for a drive?? ps i did try search and even looked in the FAQ's, so don't tell me to search.
why haven't you driven it? if it is all good do the usual water tyres and monthly check and you should be ok.
By the sounds of it, nothing. If it runs fine and you've done shit all k's then it should be sweet. I doubt you even have to check anything. Just check fluids and tyre pressures inc spare and make sure you've got fuel in the tank lol
Something to check. obviously all your fluids. ie water, oil, brake. Start it up and let it sit idle for 5 mins for it to get up temp, then take it for a gentle drive and let oil pressure build up before nailing it. ... oh, and don't be scared when your lifters make a horrible ticking noise. They usually do that when the car's been sitting for a long time. It's just sticky lifters and 'should' cure itself if you give it a good long, hard drive Enjoy your nice weekend drive in your beautiful blue baby :zlove: :zlove:
As Benny said this happened to me exactly, those lifters will sound noisey at first until you drive it for a while then the noise goes away and back to Z mode
this is already sounding like too much effort just to go for a drive for the fun of it!!! but good thing you told me about the noise..... that would have freaked me out if i wasn't prepared for it!!
hahaha, was wondering who was going to mention that!! i'll tie the spare key on a ribbon and hang it round my neck!!! :zlove:
dont do that or you'll get your head chopped off when the door shuts and your key is stick in the ignition.. hahhaa mental image of a bird stuck to the car as her necklace got caugh so close that she couldnt take it off or cut it.. hahahaha....
Don't worry Haylzie-poo the little bit of effort to check your vitals like i mentioned earlier will be worth it when you get in it and take it for a nice long spirited drive. Blow the cobwebs out, and give you a smile from ear to ear :zlove: After the weekend when you take it for a drive, let us know how good it felt and how it was worth bringing her out!
