Couple of pics from the cruise last night.... Relatively small turnout but it's about the quality not the quantity right? It was nice catching up with AndyMac again, and matching faces and names with Jamie and SRB2NV. We also had one of the guys from SAU join us with a nice R34GTR.

Finally got away from Bobbin Head around 8:00 after waiting for Anti (who unfortunately didn't make it due to a missing cylinder) and finally getting my immobiliser to disarm (why is there always one more job with these cars??).

The drive out of Bobbin Head via Kuring-Gai Chase Road was uneventful; no sign of wildlife, cyclists or boaties at that time of night! From there it was a nice relaxed drive North up the Highway through Mount Colah, Mount Kuring-Gai and Berowra before taking the Old Pacific Highway through Cowan, Brooklyn and Mooney Mooney.

We had a brief incident where the GTR driver downshifted mid corner and spun out, leaving Jamie with little time to react and unfortunately landing in a ditch. Fortunately there wasn't too much damage to either car and we were able to keep going after some Maguyver work involving a pocket knife and Jamie's under tray.

The run North from Peats Ridge was new for me -I haven't travelled that far up the Old Highway before... what an awesome road! Definately have to go back that way again...

We cut things shorter than originally intended by going straight from the Old Pacific Highway to the Central Coast Highway and Kariong where Jamie surveyed the damage further at home. From there it was a short run to the Kariong Tavern for a couple of quiet schooners before heading into West Gosford for a few photos. The carpark Jamie had checked out had a nice waterside backdrop and was all but abandoned... apart from some suspicious activity going on in a nearby Toyota Tarago...

Things were pretty dark, needing some long exposures. I think the one below was 24 seconds? The cars didn't mind holding still for that long but it was a bit much for the drivers...

Coming back down the freeway was a bit of fun! Twisty roads were nice but I don't think my car saw boost all that often. Nice to see some positive pressure across the Brooklyn bridge :D

Highlight for me was probably having AndyMac give it to me in his S5 from Berowra to Peats Ridge ha.

There are heaps of good roads that I'd like to explore up this way. Hopefully we can make it a semi regular occurrence. I floated the idea of a driving training day a little while (ha maybe years by now?) back too, I'm thinking that could be a good move at some stage too. Anyway food for though, watch this space...

Was a very fun night and it was great to meet all of you, very keen for next time :p. Thought "ahh crap here we go" when i came around the corner and saw the GTR facing me and Jamies car in the Ditch but luckily apart from minor damage both the cars & drivers are ok. Yes the drive back was fun.......trying to keep up with Rob in my NA.......:p

Many thanks to Rob for organizing it, and to those who showed up. Was an awesome night, regardless of what happened to my car. I'm over it now, going to move on and prepare for the next one!

    Great roads, really enjoyed it.

Thanks again all for the awesome night!

For mine it's just a case of jumping on opportunities as they come up.

The roads are nice and empty that time of night and visibility is no problem with HID high beams, I'll even help you fit a set!

Yeah mate, desperate need of a scan! Send me a pm of when you're free and I'll pop over! Will fill you in on details of what happened last night, and show you what the end result is!

Procky, I should be up for that.

Some good news, contacted the owner of the GTR and we've decided to go 50/50. Though I didn't include the cost of new lights. Hoping all goes well!

Just received payment from Simon, the owner of the GTR. Top outcome in the end, couldn't have gone any better. Work should be fulfilled next monday, will be installing ducts as i'd have to get a new reo bar to fit another foglight and i'm after the cheapest option right now. Rego is due in another 2 weeks or so, then I have to pay for new tyres and sort out suspension for the new wheels that'll arrive sometime this week.

Once that work is done, we should organise another. Enjoyed this one greatly.

That's great man -glad it ended well

  16. Anti

    Anti 14.7 x 14.7 = 44.1

Rob is actually 63 years old. It's with the same money that affords him the Z32 that gets him copious amounts of plastic surgery.
