Hi all, Been a while since I took the old girl for a spin, but i have aftermarket gauges reading the water temp and I have forgotten the average running temp. Today it went from 80celcius to about 92 degrees. I thought standard temp was 80, I have 2 thermo fans on the radiator. One on front pushing air in and a bigger one on the inside pulling air thru. Basically I need to know the normal operating temperature if any one can help? Thanks
Bit hot for my liking, unless you had a high ambient temp where/when you were driving. Mine doesn't see upwards of 82deg, it is an NA though.
thermos are great for reducing drag on engine but dont have the air flow of clutch fan do u have a shroud on the fan that is pulling air ?? Best efficiency is achieved by drawing air past the entire radiator not just the round section of the thermo. If u are to switch to thermos only u need bigger capacity cooling radiator or better thermal transfer to the ambient air flowing through radiator.. Also u are prob running 82c thermostat u need some theramis or gap from when thermostat opens to when fans turn on normally ten degrees just check to make sure otherwise fans will never turn off boiling point with 15 psi cap and coolant should be around 120 c
Yeah, this is such a massive mis-conception. Yes, the zed will happily pot around at 82 and it's very easy to achieve. 92 is not hot and some say that 90degrees is better for fuel efficeciency and engine wear than 80, which is better for power. I set my thermo to come on at 90, as this is where I want me engine temp.
Mine runs between 80 and 90 with thermos coming on at 86 and off at 85. Efan setup with shroud and running synthetic coolant.
Yeah, mines on at 90, off at 85 with 16" SPAL curved, no shroud with cheapo 56mm chinga radiator, running normal coolant and probably tap water....meh.
