    hey guys,
    Have a 91 TT import

Just bought it a few weeks ago has been running great. Took it for a 100km drive on the weekend, reached the destination, went to start the car after an hour and the issues started.
It would start but idled extremely slow and cut out after about 10 secs. Anyway got it to run with a few revs.
About halfway back home everything was going great until all of sudden the engine cut out at 100km/hr no warning, nothing. This happened twice on the way home. Got it to run again and kept going.

Finally got the car home, left it for about 3 hours went to restart it but no go. Engine winds over great but doesnt even try to run.
Turns out its not pumping fuel, no buzz when you turn the key on, and no fuel at all when you disconnect the filter.

I did some research and found it could be the FPCU. So i unplugged it and found that (with a testlight) none of the wires going to the plug are carrying any voltage, and yes I had the key on  however the plug at the pump has two wires with voltage? Tried earthing out the white wire, still nothing.
There is a clicking sound somewhere in the boot area when you turn the key on, like a relay
What the hell is going on?
Ive looked through the tech section and the manual, just thought the no voltage at the fpcu plug was odd?
Please note the car has been 'played' with, built for 15psi daily when the previous owner had it, so who knows how they've set it up

sorry bout the above novel, just wanted to give enough info.

    Cheers

Fuel pump failing or failed completly?

You could try connecting power directly to the fuel pump and see if it's working, but considering you earthed out the FPCU it dosen't sound like it is.

    Good luck anyway.

how about the relay in the drivers side kick panel ?

i had this problems aswell but mine ended up being the FPCU. i changed the unit and never had a problem again.

where the relay is supposed to be in the kickpanel, there is no relay at all, wierd i know.
There is a spot for the relay, but no relay in there, which makes me think whoever tuned it has set it up some wierd and wonderful way. I dont wanna stick a relay in there incase it recks something else. After all the car WAS running great.

Im stumped as to why there is no power wire at the FPCU?

someone more electrical minded with the setup we have will have to clarify but by the sounds of no relay there it may seem that someone has continued the circuit without the relay ??? it there a wire connecting the pins where the relay use to sit ??

    no no wire, just nothing
Thanks for all the replies, I really appreciate the help
How do I go about putting power to the pump itself, just to make it run to see if it is actually working?
