ive been reading up and the 300zx nismo thermostat opens up at 68degrees
which means that the fan is on pretty much all the time......is this good or bad for the car????? will it improve performance in any way?

I think you get better compression at low temps but more engine wear, or something like that. ;)

right so its just going 2 harm my engine
ive read a few things saying pointless unless track racing but thought id let the 300zx
    experts answer it for me

well the thing is.........it getting my coolant drained blah blah because
im getting a fan temp adjuster thing put in which changes the temp to which the fan comes in.......i was wondering if theres any point in getting a nismo thermostat

The stock nissan thermostat is designed to extend the life of your engine, on the other hand the Nismo one would increase performance. Personally I'd keep it stock unless you can afford it. Track car stuff imo.

I'm sure people run nismo ones on the street tho, up to you.

Why would you want to do this???

I run a nismo thermostat and a thermofan, temps stay around 80's around town. Running at speed temps are around the 70's.

Don't forget one thing...coolant temps are only an indication, oil temps are more of an indication of engine temps. My oil temps range from 85 - 100 depending on type of driving.

low temp thermos are sweet ! i have a billion high flow 62 degree.
engine sits on 70 degrees normally

Yeah i run one aswell but i don't see the point in ZzRobbozZ going to all this work on a NA.

I run a modified TT with koyo radiator full unorthodox underdrive set and nismo thermostat..... on a 38 degree day stuck in traffic with the aircond on the temp never went over 92:zlove::zlove::zlove:

theres nothing wrong with a well maintained cooling system on an n/a in the first place no matter how hard its driven

The benefits of lower thermostats are primarily aimed at forced induction motors or high compression NA's where lower cylinder head temperatures are important for charge temps and detonation resistance.

Drawbacks are increased wear and increased fuel consumption.

you wont get any performance gain on a NA dude.. better off doing a plenum pull and bypass and getting a nice large ally radiator !
