8mm you mean? So the outer edge of your rim sits in 8mm further in than mine does? I think with my guards rolled back i could go a 275/30. Your rears look awesome in that pic, though i think if yours was lower your rears would rub, might be wrong just the way it looks in that pic
yes, there's another member here in vic with the exact same wheels as zductiv and his does rub as it's lowered.
Hey Zductiv, is your Zed a 2+2? (sorry, can't clearly see from the pic) So on a 285 with the +38 offset, you didn't have to roll the guard lip? and no scrubbing at all, even on the inner side like on hicas?
Mike, where does his scrub? inner guard/hicas, or outer guard on the lip? do you know if his has been lowered also, and what size tyres he runs?
oh good. has he rolled the lip? If he has rolled it and it still scrubs on it aswell as the inner guard then i suppose it would be fair to say that 295 on a 10" rim with +38 offset would be the fattest you could fit on a Zed that has been rolled, but not pumped. If he hasn't rolled the guard, then it would be fair to say that if you rolled the guard, then you could still run the 295 on a 10" rim, but using say a +35 offset, then that would cure all rubbing issues...? sound about right? one more question, has he got a 2 seater or a 2+2?
oh forgot to ask. where can i get these from? iv looked everywhere, almost seems like they are not available anymore or something
2+2. not rolled last time i checked as it's not a daily and scrubs under compression. even if you rolled the guards @ 10+35 with a 295 it will most likely scrub as it's now sticking out 42mm more than stock and i know for a fact this will not fit the widest tyre even with rolled guards. my rears also sticks out 42mm over stock and i rolled my guards. can only run a slightly stretched tyre to avoid scrubbing and my ride height is very similar to yours. although i only run -1 degree of camber @ the rear. if you ran -2 or pump the guards out more it could work. btw benny is there a difference between the sizes 2+2 and 2+0s can fit or is it hicas related only?
2+2's have the fuel lines that run along the inner guard that can impede max tyre width by about 5mm particularly with hicas and full lock. The 2 seaters don't have the fuel lines there due to the different fuel tank positions. So, in your opinion. on a 2+2 with a 10" wide rim running a 295 tyre and with rolled guards (not pumped, but rolled). What would you think the best offset would be to minimise scrubbing? Thanks for the info btw Mike. I've got to research as much as i can for my own wheel upgrade later this year
for reference sake I'll use neutral / -1 camber. in this case for a 10" rim I don't think you'll wanna go lower than 38 if you want to get a 295 in there. most people play it safe and have 9.5+38 rears which fit perfectly but sticking out just that little bit more is teh pr0n
directly from stillen www.stillen.com ,or from www.conceptzperformance.com more pix of these skirts can be seen on my thread here clicky click
he runs 2 different tyres when i last saw him saying this at the tech day, same size, but both differ in width as all brands do that are supposedly the same size
Can someone let me know how the rear guards are "pumped" out? This is something i have always wanted to know. Can someone post up pics of their car if they have had their guards pumped and how they got it done, does the car have to be resprayed at the rear? Thanks guys
With a guard roller Can be pumped slightly no bodywork, decent pump will need spraying.also depends on the quality and age of the paint and whether you have filler on the guards already Go on the u.s forums, theres plenty of threads on people that have had it done
Don't tell me you got your guards rolled with one of those arms that are bolted onto the disc, i heard that its much better to do it tapping away for a few hours with a small hammer n heat gun. Ive seen a few cars that have had it done with the guard roller and there perfectly straight rear guards are no longer straight as the roller pushes the lip in it pulls the outside lip of the guard and warps it ever so slightly
what's wrong with guard rollers? mine was done with that and while it's not perfectly straight like factory no one has ever noticed the small imperfections. unless you're dead set on cracking your paint then go the hammer option. alternatively jam a baseball bat between the tyre and the guard and just drive forward, also works.
I have seen the hammer option done either way with roller or hammer there is a risk that the paint will crack, though using a heat gun really helps preventing this happen
