Both my zed and the person i purchased the drivers side door seatbelt it from a 1990 TT 2+2 yet after replacing my crappy one with this new one (which has nissan on it) is doesnt fit. My original one although fits to all 3 other zeds i have tried it on?

The person i bought it off sold the belt clips with his seats a while back and i dont know what to do now. Anyone shed some light on this so i know what i have.

    cheers

im pretty sure they change them as part of compliance, maybe that is why they are different?

So your new seatbelt is a Nissan part? All seatbelts I've seen on Zeds here are Klippan units (compliancing), maybe that's why they have incompatible clips. I've got a spare but it's also a Klippan...
If it's a Nissan unit you might be able to go to a Nissan dealer and just order the clip part.

Seat belts are changed under the Aust. compliance rules which can be a problem in it self , because some of the non oem seat belts product brands tend to lock up when you try to clip them up, must add that they retract OK & lock OK. [seat belts fitted onto Z doors is a real pain in the butt]

What problem occurs when you try to clip the seat belt?
You might have 2 different belts with different size blades on the belt, and you must have the appropriate stalk for that blade.

I have one Z with door mounted belts - these have a blade that is 22mm across, as per pics below. This Z was complied in 2000, and as I have owned the car since then, I know they are the belts fitted at compliance.

I have another 2 seater with belts on the B pillar. These belts have a 30mm blade, and the car was complied in 1997. However, I have only owned this car since 2007, so I have no guarantee they were fitted at compliance, however the label suggests they were.

The 30mm blade will simply not go into the stalk in that car, while the 22mm blade will go into the larger stalk but will not clip. When I swapped the seats over between cars, I had to swap the stalks back, so the belts would still work in each car. You will notice that both sets of belts are made by Autoliv here in Melbourne, and both sets comply to ADR 4/01. The Klippan brand is the aftermarket division of Autoliv.

I can't see any reference to blade width on the Klippan website. Below is a link to their seat belt and stalk matrix. It may be that at one point they changed their standard from 30mm to 22mm.
