Hi everyone, I have just bought my second z but previous one was non turbo and very stock. Didnt get much involved in terms of repairs and maintenance, it was all done by mechanics. I bought the car from ACT and I am in NSW. This car has after market air filter and rego inspector said it needs to have stock filters/pod and 'boxed'. If anyone can please help where I can find it second hand/cheap just to pass the inspection. I am not even sure what to look for :(

    thanks

What gestapo affiliated rego inspector did you go to?

What did he mark down on your inspection report?

Is your vehicle louder than 90DB?

Technically speaking he can knock you back on this with out of context based rules but based on his strict gestapo assessment conditions - about 80%-95% of all cars he inspects would fail!

Problem is that the wording of what he has written, is now in the Roads computer system
hence my question - what did he write down on the inspection report?

This guy is just being a genuine prick ! - WTF did you do to him?
(Are you having sex with his 16 yr old daughter?)

Someone around the corner. It wasn't a actual inspection for rego but more like pre sale check to see if it will pass as the car is from ACT and thought it would be good to get it checked before buying. He had a good look and said he will pass other than after market air filter which needs to be replaced with stock.

Car would need a blueslip then, that's when they get anal with looking for things to fail.

yeah...i am wondering should i go to another place for blue slip without changing the air filter or should i change it to be safe?

With a pod filter you may gain a 'poofteenth' of a horsepower on the dyno, at the expense of good air filtration.

See another place - then casually ask if its fine having a pod filter - their answer will guide you on whether you should or not.

Its a bit picky - regardless of reasons or validity

(I mean what else will he ping you for then - once he really starts the blue slipping process?)

Blue slips in NSW are tricky, and hard to find someone who is lenient.

It will be easier just to change it back to stock.
After that, it is up to you on whether you put the pod back on, or leave the standard air box in place.
