I just recently bought a set of 180km/h white gauge face set for my cluster, basically the same setup as stock except white so no recalibration necessary. To install them i had to take the needles off, when i was doing it it tried to make sure i put the needles back the same angle they were when they were on, but now after testing it my speedo is working spot on, tacho is reading about 350-400 RPM too high (just from memory of 4th gr 60km/h), temp gauge is sitting about half what it used to at operating temp and fuel gauge is showing a little too low. Anyone who has done this themselves before how did you go about it, getting the needles back on exactly right? or am i just looking at a bit of trial and error here.

    Thanks for any help :p

Thanks, After reading through there i realized i made a mistake in taking the needles off before marking where they point, i had to go from memory when i was putting them back on. So i guess now I'm just guna have to do a bit of trial and error, unless someone else has any ideas? :p

    Thanks for the help.

    Brad.

It is a trial and error process, but if you only press the needles on lightly it is easy to adjust. Plug into consult or datascan to compare tacho and temp readings. When you're happy then press them on a bit firmer

I would, but unfortunately i don't have either of those things yet. Maybe I'll be able to use someone's at the next QLD tech day if I'm lucky tho :D

Hmmmmmmmmm, yet another budding instrument tech.

I cant figure out why people pull these things apart when they are as sensitive as they are.

The cost to get this stuff done by an instrument tech is really cheap.

I got my 300klm speedo face fitted with the range resistor, A brushed stainless face plate and recalibrated for $70, and he polished the plastic face plate so it looked like new.

I just aint worth trying to DIY a speedo cluster. Crazy

Well to tell the truth, I am a budding instrument tech (electrician/instrument tech) , lol. I've just never done this sort of thing before and the seller made it sound easy... lol :p
