    I have a Pioneer DEH-536 CD tuner which I am working on. I need to know the colour codes for the speaker wires.It has speaker wiring pairs of;
    1 - grey and grey with black stripe
    2 - grey with red stripe and black with grey stripe
    3 - green and green with black stripe
    4 - green with red stripe and black with green stripeObviously these are for front right and left, rear right and left. Can anyone tell me which one is which, and which is +ve vs -ve for each one?The obvious answer is to hook it up to 4 speakers and find out, but that doesn't work to well when the amp chip is smoked.Thanks all.

    Hey Dave.....>>

    I've searched the web for you CD player but can't seem to find any wiring diagrams. However I did find some user manuals on the US pioneer website. There was no DEH-536 manual there. It must be old or something. I downloaded a few of the manuals and they all had exactly the same coloru wires.Front left + : white
    Front left - : white/blackFront right + : grey
    Front right - : grey/blackRear left + : green
    Rear left - : green/blackRear right + : violet
    Rear right - : violet/blackThats not the same as the colours you posted but I downloaded 5 installation manuals and they all had the same wiring diagram. I haven't deleted them yet so if you want me to host them i can do that. I got them off pioneer US website but you need to join to get access so if you can't be bothered joining just reply here and i'll host 'em for ya ;)

    Thanks Tw|STeD!

    It's definitely a DEH-536. Wiring colours are definitely original aus spec release with the deck. The colours you've quoted are as per a Sony diagram I have, but the Pioneer one is definitely different. Thanks again for your help - I really appreciate it. I guess I'll pull the deck apart, and work it out from scratch. I'll get there!

    Hmmm ok... :|

    Sorry I couldn't help :( I got the colours of www.pioneerelectronics.com so I don't know how they could be the same as the Sony diagram you've got :| :| There are heaps of sites out there that have the diagram but you have to pay......damn it :(

    Thanks AB. Don't go to too much trouble

    though. I was hoping someone would have the owner's manual handy. It will all become clear if and when I replace the blown chip (I hope).

    Manufacturers are heading towards

    standardising colours and plugs/sockets. That's probably why the colours are the same for Sony and Pioneer. Green and grey have been used for speaker wire colours for years, right back to the days when radios were 2 speaker only. Appreciate your help though
