Hi All, need some info please as wanting to upgrade my car. q1. whats the max power can be made from stock tt engine with normal internals ? (max power & max boost) q2. stock injecters max output/power rating before upgrading q3. gt28 ? which is better/ spool & boost or other ? q4. 3" or 4" from turbo's back and single or double exhaust (3cyl each exhaust or 6cyl into 1) which is better ? any help would be great as novice and wanting to learn so i can hit up some places for some stuff done to my car did i miss anything ? sorry if i did. oh yeah i did search and not much found except on obvious things i did not ask, Intercooler... still thinking FMIC or SMIC thanx all
some people have been known to get over 300rwkw from a stock engine, but i wouldnt go past 230rwkw...but thats just me is it a manual or auto...i wouldnt max the turbos over 15psi on the auto and 18psi on the manual due to the differnce in size of the turbos for a stock engine it really all depends on the condition of the engine....remember without upgrading certain parts and trying to get more power, even though it is possible, will put more strain on your engine and its components thus shortening the life of those parts...and in turn the engine itself and holy crap...if your going to use stock internals...there is NOOOOO way you will need 4" from turbo back....2.5 is usfficiant but if you have the money you could go 3" evebn though 2.5 is enough. and personally i would go two pipes under the car...not a single and dont get into the smic or fmic war lol....all hell will break loose hope that helps
well once all ongoing maintenance is completed including full 100kkm service and plenum pull, then you could go for Apexi power intake Dual 2.5+ zorsts Underdrive pulley Bigger intercooler Boost Controller Bundle that in with an apexi afc neo and some dyno time and you could have yourself around 250rwkw depending on condition of motor
Various paths for upgrading have been done to death in the past, but good on you for getting amongst it. I assume you are a relatively new 300zx owner? Usually servicing should be your number one priority. A 100km service regardless of the k's is a good idea unless you know for sure it has been done. Then things like under plennum hose bypass, tailshaft centre bearing (or replace with a single piece tailshaft), p/steer hose etc usually need attention sooner or later. Cars have made 300rwkw plus on stock internals but it depends how long you want your engine to last. You aren't goingt to see over 300rwkw without some serious upgrading (or you could cheat and hit the bottle ) anyway so if you're aiming any higher it might be good to sit down and work out a plan and a budet.
if you have done all the p/m 1st 1. Pod filter 2. zorst up grade. (cat back usualy enough for 90% of people) 3. under drive pully (this one is optional) so do some dont 4. boost controler set to around 13 - 14 psi 5. afermarket ECU, or Eprom upgrade, boost to 15 - 16psi they are the cheapest and the best, the rest starts to cost. then you start looking at injector / turbo upgrades GT28r is virtualy a direct bolt in turbo 555cc injectors to go with the turbo ugrade injectors, in theory the 370cc injectors are maxed at ~7000 WITH 16PSI boost from the stock turbos. hp output of the injectors, well that can be calcuated in theroy.. but there's a million other variables that dictate the power output of you car.. what ever you get at 16 psi with a tuned ecu.. that would be the power out put limit id be using putting it simply boosting more than 16psi. get injectors 1st (this is kinda pointless as byond 16psi the stock turbos just get mega hot and produce little extra power.) bigger turbo's get injectors done at the same time. if your doing injectors and turbos... thats realy an engine out job.. so if you are loaded with $$$ that would be the time to do a full rebuild and internal upgrade.
1) I managed to get 251rwkw from my stock engine, stock turbos, stock injectors. 2) Healthy stock injectors max out @ 17.6psi 3) ????? 4) 2.5inch Double. My mods for 251rwkw: Kakimoto turbo back exhaust, apexi pod filter, underdrive pulley (coupled with water pump overdrive pulley), FMIC, EBC set to 17psi Hi-Boost (10psi low-boost), stock ecu chipped to get A/F maps to support boost increase. Supporting mods: 53mm Koyo radiator, new walbro fuel pump, BOV's But dont think of doing any of that until you've had the 100,000km service done, and got everything else running smoothly
thanx all for you help. will keep you's posted on my progress. i now have something to work with with all you input. so wish me luck all goes well
