I have a 91 300ZX With the standard non turbo NA engine, I have just purchased a Z32 300ZX VG30 Twin Turbo Manual Front Cut/clip.

So what I'm wanting help with is..
    MOST IMPORTANT:
will a front cut/clip installation be successful without too many future problems???

Also If you can give me an estimate How much I should pay for a Twin Turbo Manual Front Cut/clip and how much the installation would be?,
    that would be awesome!
I don't wanna get my pants pulled down over the price.

    ALSO VERY IMPORTANT:
If you have done this before..
WAS DOING THE WHOLE FRONT CUT/CLIP SUCCESSFUL???

Thanks guys and looking forward to all your opinions and/or solutions.

How much you paid for your front clip is most likely the current going price for a tt front clip. Mabey it would have been worthwhile asking the question before purchasing said halfcut?

Mabey another 3k in labour to get it installed.

Agree with the White Knight - you picked a funny time to ask the question.

I went looking for a front cut TT manual when I was considering an auto to manual conversion. Best price I could find was $3000 + GST + delivery. $3,700 to my door.

Doing the work came next. A lot of time, trial and error to do it myself, or a lot of money to get it done professionally. I wouldn't doubt White Knight's estimate of $3000. The numbers just didn't add up for me.

It made much more sense to buy an OEM TT manual and sell the auto. That's what I did, except I forgot to sell the auto. Still have it too. :)

    Big Job

To do it properly and remove motor from front cut and all the bits, remove non turbo motor and bits, then fit TT motor and bits, cutting off and welding radiator mounts etc easily 40 hours.

is your car manual or auto???
Reason being is extra labour involved in doing auto to manual conversion on-top

buying parts seperately yourself might take a while but save some dough. I gathered parts seperately. 1800 for engine and rad. maybe 400 for the rest of the parts.

Installing it... i think i got a quote of around 3.5-4k. It wasnt the cheapest place though. I attempted it myself from a clueless state. Lots of printouts from the internets. Took maybe 40 hours of actual labour till complete? If you have a garage id suggest have a go yourself. Saved a a good 4k.

    Pretty much overall costwise:

sell it buy a tt >> do it yourself > pay to get it done

Any problems down the line? small ones.
    1. 02 sensor wasnt tightened enough and came loose
    2. exhaust to turbo bolts came loose
    3. it was too fast in first gear :p
    4. have a list of like 20 things i wish i would have done with the engine out.

So its not a problematic thing. As long as bolts are tightened properly etc, everything has one place to go. If its in the right spot, you wont have problems.

Depending what you want out of the car, id suggest spending a bit more than you plan to so you dont have to go back and do it later. One thing i skipped and regret is the auto-tensioner. Its on the back of my mind all the time and i worry about it.

Also getting it engineered. $1000 or so. without it your insurance is void if they pick up on the conversion. Even third party. Extra cost to be aware of.

So in short, no real problems, but looking back, selling and buying a tt would be ten times smarter. Thats what i would do second time round for sure.
