My "New" Daily Driver :thumbsup::thumbsup: (thumbnails = 56k friendly :P)

Well after a year of using the Z as a DD I decided that putting 25 thousand K's a year on it wasn't acceptable! (especially when that means crossing the dreaded 100k )

But hence comes the age old question of what to get... I know personally if I didn't get something that was at least enjoyable to drive then I would find myself more often than not reaching for the Z keys when I go out. That kind of destroys the point of buying a DD so an absolute POS was out of the question.

Hence my choice: A reasonably modified 1984 Toyota Sprinter or the AE86 to those who know it by that name . The particular car I bought is sporting a 4AGE 20v engine out of the much later AE101 and some other quite nifty mods :thumbsup:

So after a bit of engineer work and a trip over the pits I will be cruising around in this car most of the time and the Z kept for cruising and enjoyment/more serious mods :zlove:. Im sure that this thing will let me more fully appreciate even the small nicities in the Z such as power steering, lol!

Pretty Smooth actually

Real nice feel to the gearbox, comfortable clutch...

It doesn't give the same pull that a turbo car gives, but the numbers on the speedo do the talking...

how far into 4th stage does it cover, because 4th stage is still being released at the moment, so i doubt you have it all

i was actually thinkin bout gettin an AE86 for a DD...infact did u c this one on "carsales.com.au"??? i think i saw it on there a few weeks bak...alot of mods done 2 it...i'm sure its an awesome ride...n its rear wheel drive, not that u gona put it sidewayz anyway...Yeah rite lol!!!

They're more expensive then you would think hey.

Unless you want a stock aus-spec, but they are closer to the JDM AE85 (not even injected). But if ya spend the money you get a pretty good car

I have up to episode 22 of 4th stage, but i can't use any bit-torrent clients behind my ISP's firewall, and I can't change ISP because its a military base and they only allow the on-base place to provide it

If anything the engine is quite similar to takumi's replacement engine...

Im thinkin bout buying the delivery sticker for the side.

I have the entire 4th season DL'd off the net, and it's so awesome.

The animation is 1000% better, the music is killer, and the technical info on the 20v is pretty spot on.

I'm still missing the animated movie (which is the 3rd stage).

 

the AUS spec sprinters are no-where near as good as JDM ae85's.

No injection, drum brakes, craptacular suspension, ugh.

But the chassis codes say ae86.

No decent parts interchangeability like the old dato's though.

By the time my mate got his with 17"s, some decent suspension, and including his quote on an LSD, it costed more than my 300zx TT.

And still the really ineffective AUS spec "brakes" (better off sticking one foot out the door IMO)

But, it's way more reliable, and uses stuff all fuel, so good daily driver, and street racing credentials +10.

Doesn't look as good as a zed though.
