    Thread dig!
One of my best mates just purchased a TT Manual Supra. Not a patch on a Z. The thing feels like a family car, big boat like, say a XR6 Turbo. The Sequential Turbo's pack no punch, and it corners like a front heavy family sedan. My 2 seater TT Auto is all over it like herpes around corners. The Z feels like a sports car whereas the Supra does not. I also feel the Supra is incredibly boring to look at. I don't see why they're so highly regarded. He brought it as a daily driver too which is a little silly IMO, not exactly a practical car. I would rather a GTR or maybe even a modded GTS-T in that spot for that sort of coin! Nissan > Toyota.
That being said I love my MR2 Turbo, just needs a GT28RS on it, it's a gutless little thing at the moment but handles like a go kart! Fast left-right transisions around twisties don't phase it at all, try THAT in a poopra! And the MR2 GT interior is miles better than the cheap Supra interior.

MR2 turbo handles well? you havent had a bad case of the lift off oversteer then....

Haha makes that sound so bad... probably because it is.

Haha, nah not yet :) I'm weary of it, rather than entering a corner under brakes like you normally would in a FR car I enter it while still on the accelerator slightly, not enough to allow it to power oversteer but enough so it keeps the weight distribution of the car neutral while going around the bend.

its the 2jz that is big sell point for supras. bullet proof engine with massive power capabilities. easier to tinker with then a vg30. you can see the big shiny turbo! if u single converted of course.

Agreed, Im personally a ford fan but I admire any well engineered engine and any enthusiast who actually knows their car and doesnt have it just for show. Its for this reason I own a zed and a falcon. If I had the spare dosh Id buy a supra (Mark 3 plz) and I have heaps of cash I wouldnt bother with either rice mobile and buy the new XR6 FPV which pulls a 12.6 1/4 mile with the aircon running at factory spec.

Frankly both forums are full of wankers who love nothing better than a wide open mouth circle jerk, this thread is proof of such. Both Forums looooooove talking about "turning heads" and "how my car doesnt look out of place next to a ferrari" and my favourite "Japanese Engineering".

My good friend is a mod for the AU supra forums and loathes these threads and these people as much as you do of that I can assure you.

But for a good quick example, I was playing DND (yes Im a nerd) with a group while listening to an idiot brag about his NA mark 4 supra "Oh yer man DOHC 3.0L V6 RAR RAR RAR". He believed his own hype so much he refused to believe his car was not a V6 until I told him to go pop his bonnet for the 1st time ever and check out how his spark plugs line up and then come back and talk to me.

Dont be trolled by the Supra club, any idiot with the tiniest amount of knowledge would realize both cars are admirable engineering feats and appreciate them for it.

I'm a supra fan and own both. Honestly there's not much in it performance wise unless you start chasing big power where the supra is a clear winner due to its bullet proof engine.
Both cars are great in their own ways. If some guy is talking crap I'll walk away as it doesn't matter what you tell them, they'll always believe their own crap.

I have driven Supras TT in standard form they do go slightly harder than a 300ZXTT in there standard form. Supras in standard form cost a lot of $ to get some extra HP .300ZX will give you good reliable performance with little extra cost [100 easy HP to obtain ]The other advantage of the 300zx is cruiseing comfort .If you drive a Supra for 400Klms you will know or about it in your bones. You drive a 300ZX for 400Klms you will be still fresh at the end. So make your own mind up on why I purchased a 300ZXTT.

Not sure about the comfort. I've driven my supra for hundreds of kays non-stop and no complaints. That said I'm yet to drive a zed equally as far. Fair call about the price difference, but keep in mind you can keep the internals stock in a supra up to 800hp (at the engine). Still value for money you can't go past a zed :)

I disagree, but then Im a tall person. About this stage your splitting hairs in an attempt to prove one car better than the other. If your talking comfort, get a Falcon - nuff said.

Yeah man, good traction from the MR2 but not what I would call a good handling car especially with big power.

One thing that needs to be realised here is that...

from what I have read is that despite the SupraTT being able to deliver high horsepower figures the Z can still out perform them due to efficient engine design. A 600hp Z will still wipe out an 800hpTT Supra. Supras are not known as Dyno queens for nothing.

Its all about how quick the power comes on, a Supra with 800HP and a monstrous turbo sure lots of power but it takes it 1/2 a day to put it to the ground. (lag)

Mod for Mod the ZTT wipes the Supra again due to engine efficiency.
Our limitation in terms of stock is our Injectors. We have 370cc where the SupraTT has 550cc injectors and runs more boost. From Stock the Supra is ready to pounce but once we change our injectors to 550 and up the boost to match that of the supra, its game over. Apples for Apples really.

The ultimate thing to walk away with is that when it comes to serious dragging of these cars, the ZTT is King.

All been done/discussed/proven before, were not inventing the wheel here.

I read this in a Supra forum that I landed on by accident. Everyone was going on about the Z's being shit and one person with 'prescious' knowledge stepped in and blew everyone to pieces. He drag-races Supras and Z's and the conclusion was that a SupraTT Mod for Mod is no match for a ZTT.
Went into so much detail about engine design on both cars that span my head. This was sealed once and for all. If I ever hear a Supra person go on and on about their car I will lough now. No need to prove anything really.

I've been around and have done too much reading for too long and can see through the wnk comments everyone makes.

Still like what Toyota has done with the Supra and its long production run. Just like the Z and the RX7 the Supra is a Japanese Icon but prefer the Z instead. The No. one sports car in the world is the MX5 so go figure.

    It's all good :)

Citation / study needed. 1 guys opinion on a forum thread which you failed to provide is proof of nothing. Still keep patting yourselves on the back for backing the right car, rest assured the supra fan club will be doing just the same.

Now that I can agree with, both cars rock.

I reckon it's not very hard to believe... If you put the same amount of money into a TT zed and TT Supra I reckon the zed would come out on top. The big factor here being the starting price of the zed compared with the much higher Supras + fast and furious tax...

This was my reasoning for getting a z32, it would be difficult to find a better car bang for buck imo - given that it has a $10k + headstart over one of the most widely accepted examples (XR6T)

I went on a performance forum cruise a while back and there was 2 Supra's one was heavily modified, I think it had a gt40 on it?? well he said it made 450rwkw and i believe him made my car look like it wasn't even moving. Not to mention the 3rd gear tyre frying up the highway with super fat tyres. Well i was impressed anyway. Go the supra!

So now its bang for buck argument ?, well I have no problems with that if thats your reasoning for owning a zed but it hardly discounts the engineering nor is it the supra's fault it retained value better than the zeds.

That and the mark 4 has aged better looks wise compared to the zed. To be fair Id compare the Mark 3 (my favorite) as they fit the time bracket better and then your back to same price for bang for buck.

    Supra Mark III 1986 - 1992
    300zx 1983 - 2000

The main issue with value is nissan did not revise their Zed line, while Toyota bought out a new model 1/2 way through the 300zx's life cycle making the zed looking dated by comparison, to the uneducated a 83 zed mas as well be a 2000 zed. A Mark 3 is just as good bang for buck as a 300zx and it also has pop up headlights :D

All this being said, Id be happy if I had both cars sitting in my driveway.

That's OK, do some searching & reading on the net

Was a while since I found this information. One thing to note is that the guy that jumped on that forum prepared both Supras and Z32's for dragging. Had some much engine specific knowledge of both cars it was amazing.

Anyway, I can't be botherd searching all over the net to that specific conversation just to prove a point when we all know that the Supra is KING.
    LOL

hehehe, trust me many "insert any car here" fans think the same about the 300zx. I personally thought it as a pretty MEH looking car but I have to say, it has grown on me.
