Hey boys and girls I've been hitting the music downloads hard of late, trying new bands and upping my collections of the golden oldies. And now I need some idea's of some more "underground" not so readily available music to have a listen to. So far my downloads over the past week have included the likes of: Prodigy Massive Attack Groove Armada Bush (loved these guys in high school) Rolling Stones Arctic Monkeys Augustana Brand New (way to Blink 182 for my liking though) Citizen Cope (great blend of funk/jazz/hip hop - highly recommend) The Kooks Sparkle Horse Stone Temple Pilots Rise Against The Cystal Method So if you can list any other bands (don't want to hear the usual stuff like metallica, tool, elton john etc as I have most of that crap already....well not elton, okay a little elton). I'm looking for less known stuff. Also if you want a more comprehensive list of underground artists that you may not have heard of, feel free to hit me up on msn. phatzx@hotmail.com. BRING ON THE MUSIC!
Pivot, Triosk, Animal Collective, Four Tet, Boards of Canada, The Flaming Lips, Sonic Youth, The Cure (coming out to aus this year!), The Avalanches, Karnivool, COG, The Butterfly Effect, The Arcade Fire, The Chemical Brothers, Deftones, Angus and Julia Stone, Portishead, Sigur Ros, David Bowie, Beck, Jen Cloher, Thomas Yorke (of Radiohead), The Beautiful Girls, Machine Gun Fellatio, Eagles of Death Metal, Coldwar Kids, Bjork, Bloc Party, Interpol, Cornelius, The Knife, Pendulum, Agoria, The Go-Betweens, Tokyo Police Club, The Mars Volta, At the Drive In and Gotye.... to name just a few. Really depends on your definition of underground....you would get alot of these acts on JJJ, but some of them aren't quite as well known as others. I got lazy so that's my contribution, and the genres are many and varied. Hope that helps.
Some nice bands in there....specially Sigur Ros....great tunes! Thanks for reminding me about karnivool....been meaning to grab there discography for a while.
If you like Sigur Ross check out Mum. Other mellow bands - Art of Fighting, Bent, Chicane, Fagan, Athlete, Kings of Convenience, Cocteau Twins, Magic Numbers, Lemon Jelly, the Shins, Architecture in Helsinki and Sodastream. Oooh, and Royksopp! I like your list cherryZ - Gotye, Beautiful Girls, very good. Also recommend some (more) Aussies: Josh Pyke, Sarah Blasko and Youth Group.
