Monaro CV8 vs my Zed...

in the "looks" department only mind you. All hopes of my mate wanting to race me faded when I gave him a ride in the Zed. So we settled for a photo shoot with the 2 cars.Here are the picciesIt was at sunset at Bulimba Army Base on the Brisbane River. Some nice shots although a 2 door Commodore kept getting in the shots :-Z
He also managed to run over my entire camera kit, luckily it passed through the middle of the car and was unharmed. My tripod got mashed though. Bloody Monaro drivers!Hope you like the photos.MikeZ

 

I like the Monaro....

but I love the old Monaro more. The true Monaro, not just a 2 door commodore. Lets see how the new monaro holds up in 15 years. Because the zed is still fantastic after years of style changes.Cheers

 

the new monaro is very nice looking IMHO.

The only reason it might not last the test of time is that there are so many of them around. As for speed, it would be pretty damn close between a 300 and any gen3 monaro. I've raced my mate in his VY SS ute (also a damn sexy automobile), and there is not much between us. The Z maybe just has the edge, but then he'll probably tell you the same thing about his SS.

 

I have always liked the Monaro...

It's a true world class muscle car. I think the only thing that has going against it is the weight as compared to the Z32. Power to weight ratio I mean.
The Monaro's side profile is just magic.
Still the HSV GTS is very tempting.Let me get back to my dreams.

the '89 Z makes the '01 Monaro look bland. Mind you, I wouldn't say no to a CV8 if they offered me one as a company car!

As i watched a standard CV8 making very disappointing mid/high 14s passes. Even my mates XR8 with 325rwhp was only running flat 14s. These things don't seem to be made for acceleration.Cheers,

My next photoshoot will be with a 350Z I think. Silver of course!!! There is one around the corner from my place so it's time to find another location and get cruising!or maybe a bikini shoot... :YD

The HK and HQ series of Monaros were just two door versions of the four door sedans, so what makes the Commodore Monaro any different?I think they all look pretty good, but the HK GTS with silver mink paint just has to be the best car shape and colour combination ever released!
