VIC MINI DECA TECH DAY 16/08/2008

few members have asked if i could hold a tech day. plus we have the deca day the next day aswell. so good for final checks etc etc

obviously others not attending deca is more than welcome to help us prepair our vehicles for the next day . and we can prob help with a few little problems if someone needs help. but we have the deca day the next day so we will be primarily double checking the cars going to deca.

people are welcome to come at 12pm and onwards. DO NOT show up before 12pm

WOULD be good if everyone could bring a little something. prob best thing would be 1-2 bottles of coke,etc etc.... also have some money with you as we have the best burgers fish n chips etc right next to me so lunch we will also get.

ive pretty much got everything needed, maybe just bring some spare socket sets etc just so we can work on diff cars at same time.

i will be there and can bring my laptop/consult cable and some tools. need to readjust my handbrake, it's abit stretched since last time and i've probably worn down the shoes abit.

 

kool, do you know how to tighten them sandeep? was speaking to graham about that and he said that the actual adjustment is on the drums where the handbreak stuff it. not the actual handbreak arm itsself.

 

yeah the first time i did adjusted it was on a hoist so we did it from the drum and then adjusted from the handbrake arm inside the car. but then before the last deca I just adjusted it from the handbrake arm so this time I want to do it from the drums as well.
there's a tech article on it somewhere... or maybe i read it in the service manual. the adjustment on the drums just adjusts the position of the handbrake shoes... then the adjustment on the handbrake arm adjusts the cable tension.

I NEED MESH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! does anyone have some lying around ???????? not much just for a nose panel. i want to cut out the whole middle section and mesh it up...

do you guys think it would be better to do an oil change this weekend to allow the new oil to settle in. or just do it on the tech day being the day before the event...it will be the same oil used as before...

 

what kind of mesh do you need? how big do you want the mesh holes to be? i think we have some gutter mesh stuff, i'll check in the garage tomorrow. not sure about the oil change, i changed mine about 2 weeks ago though.

 

hrmm duno, its just for the nose panel. something like the bar mesh i guess or atleast simliar.

i'm getting a new viscous clutch for my fan so if I don't get time to change it during the week then I'll bring that along.

oh yeah i forgot to tell you, we have this rule for tech days that whoever needs their o2's changed needs to bring a slab. the last two techdays it was me that was getting my o2's changed so i brought the beer even though i can't drink (p-plates), but you can bring it this time... i think Chris works for Corona's.

i did mine this morning, takes about half an hour maybe + road testing... . depends on if you have to readjust them if they start to drag and if you have to remove the centre console stuff to access the adjustment point on the handbrake arm. my handbrake boot has a little opening allowing access to that adjustment point so i didn't have to remove the interior trim to tighten it.
what is your handbrake like now? how many clicks does it take to lock the wheels and how high does your handbrake lever go?

 

Don't come before 12? Soft. Up here we start our tech days at 8:00AM And they noramlly go for 10 hours min

 

hey im sorry to say but unfortunatly there cannot be any alcohol drinking at my place, sorry guys. you can change it for diff drinks red bulls maybe

lol note: "mini" tech day . its pretty much just to get the cars final touches, oil change, check brakes etc for the next day for deca

but every1 dont forget to bring something along. whether it be a bottle of coke, or chips, dips wateva. ...i have a fridge in the garage so we can put all the drinks in the freezer. just nibblies i guess. make sure you bring some money aswell, as we have great burgers close for lunch/dinner
