Ive spoken to Tom, as I said, the delays do seem fair its just frustrating. This is me venting my impatience, nothing more.

Gave Tom a call this morning and had a little chat.

We are still waiting on the power steering hose from Japan. He spoke the supplier this morning and the hoses are on the way, they shooooould be here sometime this week.

If all goes to plan (and no more unforeseen hold ups) Tom says he will be able to swap the engine next week :D

Still nervous about the state of my turbos (for me thats the last potential surprise and $$$) but I have 2 lined up from Matty which i need to pickup off him so I should be covered there. If the turbos are shot and matty's are not good enough to install I will suck it up and have them rebuilt which will cost another ~$600-$900.

    Getting Closer.....

Rang Tom on Friday, still no hoses so unfortunately no progress.
Im guessing we have been waiting on these hoses 5 weeks now while my car is just sitting there, quite a delay when you also add the 2 week delay of just sitting at the shop not being looked at and the 5 week delay waiting for bolts before that.

Might be an idea in the future, source your own parts.
I can imagine how peeved off you are. Come on Tom, help this poor guy out.

Why on earth is he getting hoses in from Japan for power steering? Just get enzed to make them up to suit

    ????

Just wondering why a set of Power steering hoses are holding up an engine change?. Surely the engine swap could be done first!. I dont have anything against Tom personally but I dont hear too many ( if any ) good stories about the work that PZP does

The major works ok it's all the little things that were overlooked. that was the problem.
When someone says "replace everything that's rubber" and you get it back with old intakes with electrial tape wrapped around them?
Don't sweat it mate, I think he's onto it now. I'm sure he'll do a good job for you.

Some shops prefer genuine parts for repairs and rebuilds, removes the small chance of failure etc etc.

Its been a long wait (I get my license back in 3 weeks :br: :D ) but it will all be worth it if the work is up to spec. Im sure given the extra time etc Tom will do a thorough job of it all and I do have to say, from previous experience his after sales support is excellent which is why I chose to do the engine swap through him.

There is also the factor of reactor meltdown and floods to be considered for all parts coming from Japan, it certainly could explain a large chunk of the delay.

Tom has promised some nice photos of the rebuild process as well, so I will throw those up when complete.

Im frustrated with the huge delay no doubt and a vent on the forums does me a world of good but all things considered Tom deserves the benefit of the doubt, this is just a delay nothing more. I'll be happy to show off my new engine when I finally get it so your all welcome to come and inspect the job :)

Maybe should throw a bbq and drinks night.

You don't really need OEM hydraulic hoses dude, companies like pirtek or enzed can make them up to whatever specs you want. Both have been around in AUS for years and are heavily involved with/patroned by the racing community.

Hey given the (unlikely) choice I'd much rather chase pirtek over a warranty claim than Nissan Japan....

If that's all that is holding you up you're mad to wait on the OEM gear...

he probably jsut forgot the order parts or got lost on the was to enzed and gave up... would be insane to buy from nissan considering they cost about 10x as much as local makers

the one hose i can think that you would need to buy OEM is the power steering " J hose" no suitable aftermarket alternatives

i dont believe there is any difference, i have bought a few OEM from Coz, thats where i would buy them from again. dont know if i would use silicone though
