Hey guys, times come to get my z through a roadworthy. Just wondering if any one knows of a good place to go to in the Melbourne area(west). My cars in good mechanical condition, has brand new tyros, good bushings ect. I used to work in a garage so I know what ther really going to look for. Not keen to end up at a place that's going to be real nit picky on shit as my car is old. If anybody has a reccomendation please don't hesitate to pm me Cheers, Josh.
There will be a HEAP of guys saying to go to DONTEK. DONT GO TO DONTEK TO GET A ROAD WORTHY !! Joe is one picky bastard and if this is YOUR car you dont need to subject yourself to that. Find somone who knows stuff all about Z32's. They will have no idea what they are looking for. Joe will go right to where he KNOWS it wont pass. Look for somone local. Suggest asking on SAU or nissan silvia forums
If you want man, my family friend's a mechanic and he did my RWC for my Z, hit me up with a PM if your interested
I'll be keeping this in mind haha I hate RWC's there biggest load of crap. Mechanics tend to be dodgey and nit-pick every little thing, in the hope that you (the dumb, but hey sports car must have money) owner forks over a few grand to have it up to spec. When i took my zed for a RWC i got done on rear upper/lower control arm bushes (quoted $400), apparent leaking master cylinder (quoted $900 to fix) and some other little bits and pieces totaling over $1,500. Adjusted the clutch, put in adjustable upper arms and fixed the other crap to come to a toal cost of about $700 (this was 4 new tyres as well) Soon as they realise your not genna pay them to fix it they seem to be more lenient LOL!
It might be a bit of a drive but take it to Bryan's shop in geelong...he is really good and knows heaps about zeds!!! And prices are really good and he is very helpful...i got my plenum pull done by him and a few extras and the price was great!!! Its a bit of a drive for me but i just think of it as cruising it in my zed which i love and is fun
Not sure if Brytech can issue a RWC though???.......I know Bryan is good with services/repairs but not sure if he is registered for this??
Better to take it to someone that doesnt know zeds. They won't know what to look for, as in EGR/AIV etc deletes and will only get you on saftey things which should be done for RWC anyway And Russ is correct i don't do RWC. I do have a mechanic i use in geelong for RWC and he is great for them. I'm sure you will find one in melbourne without too much trouble.. Cheers Bryan
Cheers for the advice fellas, ended up finding a small garage near my house. the bloke didnt know to much about my car, told him it was my car that i just brought. He went easy on a few things, gave me a roady easily
Poor bugger! Ive had a few mates that are less mechanically inclined than I, that got done big time and even against my advice used te same mech to repair the said defects! Yea as far as our cars go, use the rarity to it's advantage
