    Hi guys,

I've done some searching on this but haven't found anything specific.

I've got an 89 NA 2+2 and I'm doing a manual conversion. I've come across two donor cars and I'm trying to decide between the two:

    1. Another 89 NA manual 2+2 pretty much same as mine
    2. 2+0 manual TT

How much more complicated is it to put a TT box into a NA?

The gearbox in the TT feels tighter but the NA is running and drivable.

If course there is the advantage and temptation to go for the TT and get the engine as well. But just from a manual conversion perspective, which is easier?

    mrkarter77 No Really, They do!!!

Personally i would go the TT route, because id put a 1 piece driveshaft in anyway. and then you have a TT. However, the 2+0 and 2+2 as well as tt vs na shafts are different.

Just for manual conversion purposes, get the other NA donor car as everything including driveshaft which can be re-used since they will fit your 2+2.

If however you are going to convert to TT in the future, might as well get the TT donor car.

But there are differences, driveshaft is completely different, cheapest option would be to get a 1 piece made up using the existing TT 2+0 shaft. Jeff Lareway in KNOX would be the man to go to since you are in VIC.

Gearbox bellhousing / clutch & flywheel are all different to NA versions. If you use the TT donor you have to move everything over. Once converted at least you will be using the TT clutch which will take a bit more abuse. TT flywheel is heavier though, you may find the engine will seem a bit lazier since the NA motor has to work harder to spin this thing up.

Lastly if the 2+0 was a factory TT, it has a clutch booster, you do NOT need these parts, pain in the arse to retro fit and not really needed.

Thanks for the info guys. Originally the plan was to stay NA as it'll be a weekend tourer on club plates. Max once or twice a year it'll have track days. I'm only tempted by the turbo as it popped up.
At the moment I think I'll stay with the NA, see how I go down the track and if I get power hungry. :)
