Hey everyone, basically I had a TT for a day and had so many problems I had to give it back. And now looking around what I've found on carsales, gumtree, here is if the 300ZX twin turbo you are selling is manual that automatically puts the price up past 10k, so basically I found a cheap non rego TT auto for sale. Good compression from recent comp test but needs and injector as its missing.

I'm just wondering what parts will I need to do a manual conversion, most probably will be doing this myself... I just want some info from people who did it before to see if they encounter problems.. How many/ how they were resolved... And just general parts required.

So far I know I'll need the following.

    Pedal box
Manual gearbox (if its NA I know I have to modify the bell housing to fit the clutch.)
Clutch kit + flywheel... Probably going with a brass button at this stage.
Tail shaft... Will be a one piece from coz.
Whilst I'm under there ill change the rear main just for safe measure.

Is there anything else I can do behind the block whilst the gearbox is out?

    And last but not least...

Are the TT manual and TT auto diff the same? I'm pretty sure that they are the same internally but I don't exactly know about the tail shaft connectors.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks everyone.

the bushing in the crankshaft that locates the input shaft for the gearbox is also different. I do not know about the bolts for the flywheel I imagine they would be different to the ones for the flex plate on an auto but dont know for certain.

Well I did the 20v conversion the engine was also an auto and the flywheel bolts were different. So I might just buy the arp flywheel bolt kit. Ill be buying a new flywheel a lightened one and a f1 racing 6 puck clutch to go in it.

    How much is the auto?

You are looking at 2k to do the conversion and all the ****arounds that go with it.

Unless it's a mint auto, or dirt cheap, just buy a manual.

Yeah pretty well summed up. Also pending the box you use, the starter motor mounting surface will either need to be shimmed or shaved. Either way matched to the flywheel you use.

Flywheel bolts are a must as they're different. Along with the mounting bolts between the box and block. Service manual has the sizes. I think 2 or 3 auto box bolts will work with the cross over. But i just got all new ones from work.

You'll obviously need a master cylinder and slave cylinder, along with a new hose to join them. Easy to source, cheap enough too. Only thing you might want to consider is the clutch booster. We got a TT conversion kit and put onto our NA. Now initially i left the booster disconnected, to see how heavy it was. We put in a heavy duty organic clutch. For myself i could have gotten used to driving it, but my misses wasnt happy with it. So i reconnected the booster via the port on the passenger side of the engine where there is a 1/4" blanking plug. Didnt use the aux tank they put in the wheel arch. So far so good, and alot easier to drive. Food for thought.

Little wiring to make the lights work. Nothing major there.

You've pretty much got all the info. Just need to buy the parts.

We got our TT conversion kit will all the goodies needed (less clutch kit) for $900. Or something similar. Was a while ago now. Clutch kit cost me $300.

Well I just wanted to find out. Ill save money in the labour side of things. Will most probably be doing the work myself. But I'll be doing it slowly. Parts I don't know yet, I'll have to source them all myself. I got quoted $3500-$4000 drive in drive out today. But I want to make sure the motor is strong before I do anything.
