    Hey all

Just arrived home from work, and did the weekly "have a look under the bonnet for shit that has gone wrong" check.

In particular checking the PZP radiator, since it was a recent addition. Noticed that the lower radiator hose, about half way down the drivers side, has been rubbing on a belt (unsure of which belt its attached too :p)

Im waiting for the engine to cool down so i can jack it up and have a look, but I already know whats caused it.

I was unable to put on the lower section of the radiator shroud, and the little clamp/guide thing which screwed into the base of the stock radiator could not be fitted.

Since this wasnt in, the lower rad hose was able to move about, and at some stage and hit the belt, causing it to melt/wear a little....

    Crap.

Time to go look for my spare. :( Dont want to risk it bursting at the weak point. Will post pics soonish.

Maybe replace it with a hard pipe and cable tie it in place if you can't fit the clips for it on.

ZXTCY didnt have that bracket either and when i was putting on a lower alloy hardpipe i noticed it had been doing the same thing
I just fabbed one up out of aluminium strip to keep the new alloy pipe away

This is a good lesson to others to check their hose is not rubbing if they havent already updated with a alloy hardpipe

    Hey all

Just crawled under the car - cant take very good photos of it due to the position its in, sorry.

I caught it just in time, it had rubbed away to the thread level in the hose, a few more days and i dare say it would have burst.

As it is, im doing a quick job putting on the lower shroud and cable tying the current hose away from the belt.

Will replace on friday and put the damned bracket in place somehow.

Do you think it will be ok to drive for a day like that? short trips only. Car was at full temp for maybe 30 mins today, no sign of buckling in that area. The gash is less than 1cm long and just down to the thread inside the silicon.

Will try again for photos with a torch and a 3rd arm.

PS: Agree with the good lesson thing. Check your hoses!!!

PPS. how much for hard pipes? :p

should be ok for a day or so. Maybe wrap some tape around it just to make sure the pressure doesn't bust it

$89 from caz,i highly suggest pissing off that crazy long rubber hose and installing this (shiny tooooooooo :D:D)
I put one of these on LOWZX and ZXTCY so that is no longer any concern

You can see the gash pretty much right in the middle of the photo. Deeper towards the bottom of the hose than the top.

Got a spare lower hose - i'll just put that back on it. Though... Shiny... OOO....

youre lucky that was a silicone hose,i think if it was rubber, you would have suffered big time

Yeah, you can definitely feel the difference between rubber and silicone. Im not really looking forward to putting the rubber one on, but i dont have the spare $90 for the lower metal hose. Bah!

That'll learn me to pay for my GFs new distributor. *grumble*

I have SMICs that need putting on... So I guess friday will be a day for doing shit! And beers.
