thats pretty F$%@$#, how long do you lose

your license for? That punk cop was probably looking for something to book you for and couldnt find anything apart from p plates. Any decent cop would just give you a warning. Maybe you can just limit your driving to and from work, and swap cars with someone with a normal car. Chances of you getting pulled over is next to none. Use a mates or family member identity if you get pulled over;)

    That really sucks...

all well and good for DD or speeding or whatever but losing your license over P plates is complete crap. I really suggest hiring a lawyer and taking it to court. It may cost you $1-200 but it may very well save your job and your license. Plus you will probably save that on insurance premiums (from having lost license on your record). Id hope any reasonable judge see thats its stupid. Good luck.

    Thats pretty unlucky man...

I have been pulled over for speeding, not in my 300zx but another, didn't have P plates up and didn't have license on me and was 15km/h over the speed limit... plus car was leaking oil, couldn't read the number plates... all she fined me for was speeding. They just attitude test you, if you don't bite and don't be a prick and just go casual about it, they'll let you off with the other stuff the majority of the time.

Dont worry - there's a way to keep your job

go to court and apply for a special licence. It allows you to drive to and from work. You'll be right man. If its going to cost your job get a lawyer to plead mitigating circumstances ie your job. Thats how taxi drivers get to drive after heaps of fines my friend. Good luck and hope it all works. That copper who pulled you over was a wanker (IMHO):-Z

Hey i got done for the exact same thing but

i know i was in the wrong. Look if you got done for what you said all you should get is a $165 fine and 3 demerit points. If you haven't been bad before you should be fine and just pay the fine but if you don't have enough points left to cover the current fine and can't prove your being treated harshly you probably have to wear it like i have and loose your licence due to an excess of 12 points lost in the allocated period. But you do have an option to take which is a 12 month good behaviour bond where if you get convicted of an offence in the next 12 months your previous suspension will be doubled and put into place immediately from the next infringement. I.E if you previously had a 3 month suspension it would become a 6 month suspension from 28 days after your next infringement notice. So basically if you have no points left on your license and can't prove you've been treated unfairly you may just have to wear it like i did. I know it sucks but its just the law, i know it's all too bad ( and a bit TOO harsh) but all we have to do is obey these basic rules/laws and we have got nothin to worry about. We drive a car which is going to be targeted by police and we all know this so why can't we obey these laws that are set in place.

That sucks man, you need to

Move to QLD where you don't have to display any plates at all, to me P plates are an stupid idea, like painting a bullseye for every idiot to act foolish around you :(

Man I feel sorry for you, but if you take that advice, the next post we will see is "Help I'm in gaol"8( 8(
Go to Court and tell your story, if your telling the truth about your points loss, you have a good chance to at least get permission to use your car for work.:YD

    You should be congratulated Baroo^D^ ^D^ ^D^ ^D^
You've hit the nail right on the head. These Laws aren't written to victimise individuals, they are in place so that we can ALL survive on the roads. Accept that fact, and you can avoid trouble, reject it and the Law will win in the end.
    You're a breath of fresh air:YD :YD ^D^ ^D^

    Absolutely correct Zac.

Who needs bloody "P" plates drawing unwanted attention to you, when you're driving at 200kph:?)
    You are one deep thinker, sunshine.:-0 8-}

lol desperate measures, i'd do it if it was

my last resort and really needed to drive. Lucky for me I never had a traffic offence and intend to keep it that way, so never see my self getting in this situation :YD.

I know you probably don't want to hear this

Dr ZX but if I was pulled over for my P plates falling into the boot I would make absolutely sure that it didn't happen again. Surely there is a way to put P plates on your own vehicle so they stay there. Get your boss to write a letter stating that you will be fired if you lose your brief and take it to court with you. This happened to me around 10 years ago and I was allowed to drive my car on weekdays until 10.00pm. Then get onto the task of attaching your P plates properly.

How did they fall into your boot?>

Did you stick them to the inside of the glass in the boot?
I've done that before and its a dumb spot to have them. Nobody can see it there and cops are gonna ride you for not displaying them properly.Sometimes i think P platers make life hard for themselves. I mean, you admit it yourself, losing your license for not having your P plates displayed properly is F$#%ing stupid. How hard is it to put your plates somewhere secure where they can be seen? Its simple shit like that, that is avoidable that makes people bitch about the cops being hard on p platers.

thats fucked. 3 points for not having your

P plates up is way excessive. Should be like 1 point and a $100 fine at the most.

    Feel for u mate

Dr Zx, sorry to hear about your license lost, my mate in his skyline lost his license 3 months ago and we all felt his pain. But he did learn alot from it.But as for your p plate fall off?You cant really see the p plate on the rear windscreen of a Z. Why dont most p platers put there plate just under the rear number plate where that metal hook comes out. When i use to have my p's thats where i put it and not once did it come off.Just an ideaMichael=)

    To keep your P's attached

on the rear, you tie a piece of string to the hook when you open the boot. Make sure you use 2 P plates so that its double sided and doesn't matter if it flips over.Doing it this way though will cover up the '300ZX' writing on the back panel, and can scratch up that area a tad (nothing a good buff wouldn't fix)If you have a stock front bar you can do the same thing with the string and loop it around near the number plate.I did the P off course here in the ACT so I dont have to display them anymore, (and get an extra 4 points) but to do that you would need an ACT licence for around 6 months. When you can drive again, just take a holiday up here and apply for the licence here. Then in 6 months, come back do the course (easy as) then you get your certificate! and never need to worry about P plates again 8D

Laws are supposed to be tougher on P platers

And with good reason. Its a probationary period while your "learning" to drive, so the harsher penalties are dished out so the lessons sink in.
Its bad luck that you manage to loose your license on something so trivial, but bad management to loose so many demerit points in your first 3 years of driving.
Keep your chin up, use the system to hang onto your license if you can and learn some valuable lessons and drive to survive on the roads (that goes for us all :YD )

I'll bet armed robbers think 10 years is

tough too....do the crime...you know the rest and I'm sure you knew the penalty for this too. Cars like these are enough to get the filth looking, no sense giving them something to stick you with too!!!

as you said this has happened before....

to you, didnt you think that after the first time that maybe you should do something to secure the plates to your car??? I don't want to come off as a F#ckstick, but as a P-plater who has been fined for the same thing, it just seems like common sense!!!and all of the other people who are on there blacks, bagging the law, you should know better. we are trying to give ourselves a good image as Z drivers. we dont want to be categorised with every other smuck with an "import turbo" who disobeys the law and thinks they are better than the rest *cough WRX cough*. I thought for a sec we are about vehicle appreciation, not bagging legitiamate rules. If we want to be free of rules, we should be taking our cars to the track...... :-Z
