    Hey guys.
I was looking at some tail lights for the zd. Since 2k spec isnt in my price range I found some similar on ebay. They have the clear indicator lense and red or smoked brake lights. They look ok but im wondering if anybody on here has fitted them to there car. If so can I see a pic of how they look?

    Cheers

    Fitted.

    These lights fit perfectly ok.
The ones I got had a reddish tinge on the border and not black.
My have just been that model run.
They are technically illegal as there is no reflector, yet I have been through a couple of RBT's and no comment from the police.
They work perfectly ok. Bright reflectors, no fading or cracking.
Have had them fitted for two years now. No leaks.

I was hoping no one posted these.

Each to their own but I'm not personally a fan of these. The red and white plastics give off a cheap look IMO. They are pretty common in Japan, but then again, the radiation level over there is pretty high ATM lol.

If you're thinking about these OP, I would consider a second hand pair of 2k spec tail lights instead.

maybe you could put a slight tint over them to hide the cheapness?

what cheapness? (cough, cough, splutter) Parked alongside a car with 2K lights the only difference is the black pinstripe lines and the red reflector.

The ones that do look cheap are the DIY converted ones as the diffuser is smaller grid on the commercial ones.

It all comes down to what one can afford, and they do look better than the faded cracked lights that were in there.

these look ok, apart from the fact they dont match the centre panel. the background is a slightly different colour, which makes them jump out at you.

    Re: 2K spec tail lights

There is no advantage to changing from the original lights to the later 2K spec style other than for aesthetics.
People change them because, in their opinion, they look better than the earlier style of taillight.
There is no doubt, the later series lights when coupled with the later series centre panel, do have an effect on the appearance on the rear end of the Z32.
If you don't have the budget for a new set of rear lights, perhaps you could find a second hand set a bit cheaper. :)
Alternatively, if you think the ebay items look better than what you already have, why not go with them? :)
Others may like them, others may hate them, it doesn't matter, it's your car do what you want with it! :zlove:

You don't have to look far to see Z32's modified in very poor taste!

The red reflector just doesn't look right and the larger grid on the white diffuser I think is the reason they look cheap to me.

Having that centre panel a difference black makes it look faded as well which doesn't help with my perceived overall cheap look of it all (the whole three piece tail light set up in your picture).

Just my opinion. Not directing offence. Don't forget, at one stage I had the Ferrari lights on my first zed HAHA then I realised genuine 2Ks just couldn't be beaten for aesthetics.

    All good Erik.
If I could get another set with a "black" surround then I would transfer these to the other car.
I actually prefer the continuous red of the stop light. The reflector on the 2k and the original OEMs look to me like and after thought.
"Opps we forgot the reflector. Nah just drill a hole and slap it in the middle of the stop light"

I bought some ebay lights shown below because at the time I could not afford the JDM ones.

They looked very cheap in my opinion and I grew to hate them and regretted buying them.

A year latter I replaced them with the JDM lights below. I am much happier with them they look so much better.

Unless there is something seriously wrong with your stock lights I don't think ebay lights are an improvement. I think you should save up for the JDM version.

I think you could show the above two photos to your average man in the street who doesn't knows zeds and say "one of these are cheap ebay tail lights the others are expensive original equipment factory lights, which are which?" and 99% of people could pick it. The point being that they make your Z look cheap (apologies to those who own them...just giving my honest opinion).

I'll add that part of the problem is that they are just too glittery, just not a good look (at least the ones I bought were - gmbrezzo's lights don't look so bad in that regard).

Cheers man. Yeah only reason I would update the tail lights is for aesthetics. The particular styles I have found on ebay seem to loose the quality feel ( just my personal opinion). So ill keep an eye out for some second hand 2ks. Prepared to spend 250... ill c how I go lol

They look like they don't even fit that well :vomit:

IMO amber looks good on red zeds but since Ian's car is blue, yeah some 2ks would suit well.

    Blissfully U wot m8

Another vote for don't buy any aftermarket tail lights.

2K tails, making even the sh*ttiest zeds alright since 1999.

I soo agree with you. the 2k lights are better.
They are a more subtle upgrade and give it an OEM look.

If I had the coin to spare I too would have gone for the 2k lights, but being very limited on the funds only allowed me the (very near new) s/hand option.
