Be sure to post pics when you get them and also when you install them give us a blow-by-blow on how you fitted them, etc. I gather that they go over the existing tweed as a seat cover, but I need to be convinced that a real snug fit can be achieved. Would prefer to ditch the tweed altogether and have covers that go straight over the foam, and fix in place, as with the ones from Leatherseats.com in the US. Still, will be a nice look, congrats on the purchase.
i'm pretty sure that you do remove the tweed for a perfect fit i have the leather seats, and i am anticipating that i will be removing the leather and placing these new leathers over the foam/cushion stuff these are good quality dude i think everyone on the forums should get them, at this price it's a steal
Agreed. I'm keen but will have to wait a week or two. Also want to see yours when they're done. Good to have a Guinea Pig, isn't it?
yeah im getting some too.. im used to being the guinea pig.. you do have to remove the tweed to fit these.. these are real replacement trim peices.. theyre called covers because they arent complete seats.. not to be confused from the shit you buy from SCA
Any update? Anything to report yet? A few have indicated they would buy, but am interested to see whether anyone has received/fitted covers yet. I have been quoted around $1100 in Brissie to re-trim fronts in high qual leather. Starting to think that's the way to go.
actually, i think he is getting them made as we speak and he used out EOI as a gentlemans purchase agreement hehe well i'm looking forward to getting mine anyways!!!
the bit that wears does anyone know how to repair that bit the breaks away from the drivers seat that you always rub against when you get in the car?, the foam stuff under the leather i mean cheers
leather seat covers hi guys, make sure you email him directly. on the 30th andy let me know "all down, thanks, will let you know the payment later, cheers" andy's email address is qixuan300zx@yahoo.com.au
I am replacing my seats and tweed panels in leather for $1800 I am going to use Customline Trimming in Brisbane was quote $1800 for the lot in leather , why stuff around with covers get the job done properly Regards MIKEA
I tend to agree. And that's a good price. Kev's Kustoms at Slack's Creek quoted me similar. He's done a few Zeds too, which helps instil a bit of confidence. There's also fellow Zedder Gavin - GT Trimming who will ensure we get the best leather for the money. Leathers ain't leathers. You get what you pay for. That's why I'm a bit wary of the Chinese connection. It makes a huge difference long term whether they use first, second or third split. The thick cow hide is shaved or 'split' and so the top layer has the natural grain. The cheaper next layer is stamped to produce the grain and is not as soft and supple. And so it goes. Keen to see how you get on. Post up some pics when it's done.
they are making them as we speak hello guys, sorry about this late reply, i did not know that this one is till going. the reason that i did not ask you guys to pay is that i am not sure when i will get them and also i want to make sure all the sets are in the right order. in this way none of you will take any risk, i just want to do the right thing. i hope this will help some of your questions. cheers andy
Yes it is stitched in place, as I had a very detailed discussion with him on this point. Before you "canned" a comment get your facts rights Yes, I queried that and they are not slip over covers. MIKEA
intreresting.. i have never seen a sewing machine that sews leather while its on the seat, would be a pretty funny thing to watch.. theres a motor trimmer across the road from my work that i go and watch work (he does very $$$ work, but is brilliant) and i have heaps of books on the matter. all seat trims are manufactured off the seat.. go watch a motor trimmer work mate
