Hi just got the Z home from the mechanic as i am no Z expert but i am a general mechanic dont know much about tubos and i dont know much about these Zs but i can with a little help. i got the following faults L&R muffler pipe leaking - should be no problem Rocker Cover Leaking - need a bit of help L&R Turbos leaking Oil - gotta look into that LF intercooler /piping leaking - thinking ill buy a FMIC instead not sure if it was intercooler leaking or piping LF shock leaking - can do that easy
Rocker cover is a common one. Unless its really pissing out most people just leave it. Best time to fix it is when you are doing a plenum pull anyway. Must be an old school mechanic if he calls it a rocker cover as there are no rockers on these engines. Valve cover is the correct term
Yeah was thinking about it might just clean up the whole engine bay but i really need help with the turbos and where 2 start + the Zs been sitting around for ages about 1-2 yrs any advice?
the turbo's would more thatn liklely be the copper washers on the banjo fittings on the turbo, the LH one can be done quite easily in situ
yes im going to start the list now the shocks i think i will buy from the wreckers about 100$ and mufflers checked out by the muffler people and the turbos i think ill pull em out and take them to a turbo specialist
Look up plenum pull in the tech section, with the plenum off you can tighten up the valve covers, you may want to order gaskets for them which can be obtained from conceptzperformance.com , have a look at the other stuff needed to do a plenum pull and suggested things to do sucha s injectors, fuel lines, egr removal, water hoses, anti icing hose bypass, and waht not, let me know if you want a hand have only assisted with one once but might be of some assistance, if not i can open beers pretty good.
