I have Noticed that there is a nock when i put the car under load or brake heavy... i have had a couple of workshops tell me there is a problem but no one can explain exactly what and where the problem is... i think it is a worn kingpin in the frount left control arm... i dont really know though... i have been told that it is everything from a ball joint to a worn radius rod or something... has anyone else had a similar problem??...
Does it only happen when driving forward or in reverse as well? I hada caliper bolt work itself loose and every time I hit the brakes going forward it made a knock noise (the caliper hitting the wheel!!! ). Just a thought, hope i'm wrong Cheers Rob
I've got a noise kind of like that - only under very heavy braking after heavy acceleration, like something slides forward. My battery tie down worked it's way loose so I tightened that but wasn't sure if it was the battery moving or something else - I haven't heard it since.
ive got something similair when it was running anyway it was only under braking, didnt have to be fast either but you could heat the clunk. when I had my tyres changed they claimed it was stuffed tension rod and quoted $400 to replace the bushings. For that money I could get a whole new set and fit myself so didnt go through with it.
i got a similar knock too in my camry....my tension rod bushings are gone, have you eliminated your susspension bushings at all?
Thirded. My clunk was particularly noticable when reversing into my driveway. Replaced bushes, and the noise disappeared.
