Sorry that I have not gotten back to you yet I get lots of pms and I dont get much time to get through them all each night. I already have a set of 2+2 that I can mold on my car but I dont see the point in making them if there is a decent fitting version already available at a decent price. I would only do it if I was going to severely undercut the price which I am unable to do and make a profit. The carmate price is actually quite fair for the labor that would go into them.

Quality shouldnt be an issues as the molds do not have any complex curves. As for pricing my thoughs were $250 for the skirts and $100 for the "slimfill" pannels. So for $350 you get the skirts of equal quality plus a set of infill panels that dont stick out. Plus you save on shipping as it doesnt have to come from the states.

Personally I think its a good deal.

Fair enough! - Obviously I'm already sorted! ;)........but the offer was there in case it might help others?? (I didn't know you already had a set!)

So just to be clear......is it only the door fillers that have this 'ledge' that Tekky is saying you should 'fix' with your version?......will your skirts just be similar to the original profile/thickness etc?

Furthermore......your 'slimline' door fillers will actually fit the 2+2 skirts?.....corrrect? ;)

I like the idea of having flexible urethane fillers on doors that sometimes get bumped, slammed etc........but I'll keep an eye on how your slimline door fillers turn out! :zlove:.......luckily I don't plan to fit these for a while yet!

On a side note......is there anyway to make the 'slimfill' door fillers out of urethane rather than fibreglass???....... same as the originals??

    Ok
so the stillens flare out more and look more aggressive while the kaminari follows the bodyshape more and looks neat.
hmm ..I like both looks.. stillen might look tougher on a track car

you really need to see them completely side on!......the Stillen skirts look good.......but they really have a straight line to the bottom edge.......it really squares off the underside of the car!.......whereas the kaminari's tend to follow the original curves! you can't really go wrong with either! :zlove:

The problem with the genuine items sticking out is because they are urethane. Urethane cannot be trimmed down or shaped to suit the skirt. I cannot produce a utethane infill that will fit all cars perfectly as every car will be slightly different.

Here is a pic of how a genuine urethane fits on my car.

And here is a pic of how much I had to trim out of a copy to make it sit flush.
trimmed on the left genuine on the right.

Here is why fiberglass is better. The infill that comes out of the mold is about 15mm deep. If you were to stick this to the car as is it would stick out just like the genuine urethane. They will all need sanding down to fit flush.

My car has gone through a fence earlier in its life (Chrispy is da man):p The back of my drivers door sticks out a few mm and on the passenger side the front guard sticks out a few mm due to using a bad jacking point. With the fiberglass infills I can shave the back edge of the drivers side so that it fits flush with the side skirt. And on the other side I can not shave the leading edge as much so that it sits flush with the front of the skirt.

This is not possible to do with urethane. You get one shape that you stick to your car and thats it regardless of how it fits.

Whats the issue with cutting down a urethane one? Im not doubting, just curious to the complications involved as i remember having to hack the shit out of my stock urethane front bar when i put the FMIC on.

Its a solid chunk of urethane. Not a hollow skin that fits to the door. The surface that mounts to the door is contoured to the door. I'd have to take a photo to show you properly. Would need a special cutting jig to get it right.

Ahhh i get it now, in other words its not a hollow item and shaving it down would mean you need to completely re-shap the back of it so it fits yer?

what a pain in the ass!

The one I pulled from the car I wrecked actually was SCREWED to the door. I was like  when I saw the 6 screw holes right through the door sides and bottom lip to pull it flush.

It wrecked the door and just looked plain ugly. Dont think the door would have lasted long without rusting out.

If Stillen can make them so they push straight up perfect. Cant see why Kaminari couldnt.

Sideskirts are done and I have made a sample set which came out good.

Im still not happy with the slimfill pannels. I have a set that I will try to fit this weekend but I think they will need one last re-design. Will get pics by the end of the weekend.

    Final Update.

Side skirts and Slimflill panels are complete. I will start a FSBB thread soon for these, front lips and fog ducts. To comply with forum guidelines I will not accept orders untill this thread has been approved by the mods.

    Pics for you all.
