So...Since I am going to swap to a TT sometime I have been slowly collecting parts and installing everything I can on my N/A until she decides to blow. I have an Apexi Neo and I was going to use it to setup my Dual MAF. Since I am not a huge fan of hacking into the OEM Wiring Harness I opted for a Boomslang kit to install my Apexi NEO. This was easy as pie with the "Plug and Play" kit from Boomslang. No modification was needed to the Wiring Harness at all. Well a few months ago Jim Selin at Selin Design released a new product. This simply takes the two voltages from the two MAF Sensors, adds them together then divides them in half and sends that translated voltage directly to the ECU. This is of course with the OEM connections and no wires to tag into the wiring harness whatsoever. I saw this as an opportunity for easy install and no hacking of the wiring harness. So I ordered one up and waited for the package. Very fast shipping. I received the product in a matter of days. The install could not have been easier. Unplug MAF, install secondary MAF, plug in the Translator then go for a test drive. No joke. Dual intake in a matter of an hour. I decided to remove the ENTIRE OEM intake tract and go with my own fabricated kit out of an intercooler piping kit I got off of E-Bay for a few bucks. This allowed me to remove a lot of the bends within the stock system that pose as bottlenecks and hinder the flow of air to the Throttle Bodies. The only items I used from the intercooler piping kit were 2-90 degree elbows that started as a 16" x 16" then cut to fit. Here are some pics of the install... Box... Instructions and stickers... Translator, Bracket and Instructions. Before the install... Unhook old MAF... Cut Intake Piping... Old Intake System... I modified the Bracket that came with the kit for a little extra cooling on the Translator, relocated my already relocated PTU and fabbed a bracket to hold the tips of the Air Filters together for stability. Driver side... Passenger side... Done deal... Almost forgot the startup vid. My car was cold and had not been started for a few days also... And....Here comes the question..."Why did you do this to an N/A blah blah 500HP blah blah no gains blah blah...." Just shut up already.
i'm interested in an answer to the above as well as if you felt any difference in response. i couldn't care less if this gives no power increase in NA yada yada but if there's a decent difference in pickup i may be interested in getting one.
^^ It took you longer to type tht than it would have to watch the video...lol Idle is great. It changed a little but as would any major redesign of any intake system. I can't really say. It is tough to feel just a few HP with the butt dyno. You can hear the car sucking air a lot more for sure. Bottom end feels super solid and more responsive. I still have not had her out on the freeway. Just around the block a few times. I will take her to the dyno very soon. This is about all I can do without getting into Cams, Valves, Springs, Port/Polish, Pistons...So I will see what I can tune it up to with my Apexi NEO AFC with a few dyno runs. I will post results.
that is exactly what im looking for a quick plug and play for a dual intake ...finally something on the market to make it easy for dual intakes
Yes it's a nice kit but very pricey, over AU$300. It's a smart way if you don't have the desire to dive into the ECU to change the K-value or rig up an SAFC. Edge racing has just released a dual intake kit with low speed/idle hardware, it's what i am going to give a go and priced a lot less than the JWT and DOOLZ items.
link???...i want to get rid of all those annoying bends (well as many as possible) for the intake and then hook up 2 AFMs, but im wondering how long that cord is and if these 'Jim Selin' guys can make the cord longer Ryan
You can see how long the cord is in the pictures. I am sure they can make up extension cords... http://www.selindesign.net/
when i was looking into this option i spoke to jim and he said the cables can be lengthened, as my plans were to run them under the headlights where the smic sit
Just talked to him today and that is what he told me also. The Male Connector is hard to come by so the Extension cords have to be hardwired in. Oh well that would actually be better than more connections to get corroded over time anyways.

I thought zeds had a tuned intake and that was the reason for so many tubes. Or is this only for the TT?
Thats the plenum buddy. Tuned length intake runners. Not to be confused with the rest of the intake tubing.
If one does not need the complete kit and only requires the aluminum elbows and silicone couplers than the better option would be the Z1 kit. http://www.z1motorsports.com/produc...=3274&osCsid=90dc8150569aacab05421cebaa9592a6 By using the pull bown boxes to order just the elbows and couplers the total would come to $95. That's what I did since I already had a second MAF acquired.
whats required to get this running on a car. am i better of purchasing the sellin translater and running dual maf or will a eprom edit be enough with this kit? will be getting a tune done anyway for 800cc injectors so i thought this way might be better as im getting a tune done at the same time?
