just wondering what weight rating i would need for my Zs, (one will probablely be about 70-100kg heavier (empty) than stock auto tt Z when i finish modding it also) looking to do caliper reseal and repaint and the million things that will come up with my Zs in the future.

also should i get 1 or 2 pairs of stands, and is a trolley jack the best choice for jacks?

I personally own 4 x 6000kg axel stands. The ones with the triangular looking base and the case steel adjuster. These i bought for the use on my ute as well as the sedan and Z. They are quiet tall at bottom level and very tall when at full extend.

To get these under the z i need a high lift trolley jack. The one i usually use required the scissor jack from the side so it clears the trolley jack, but after that its all good.

Recommend getting a low profile, high lift trolly jack. Best for both worlds. Also 4 of the same type stand makes life easy for keeping things balanced when your getting the whole body in the air.

6000kg is massive overkill for a Zed, technically 600kg a corner will work but I'd not go close to that either just in case. 2000kg is a nice happy medium I think. I prefer the ratchet type to the pin locking type too.

The good brand ones are rarely much more expensive than the generic ones too so I'd go somewhere liek Total Tools and get some good ones.

I've got my car up on 4 2000kg Kinchrome stands at the moment and that has been fine for me even with 2 decent sized people climbing over the car and smashing away at it with large tools.

Because the car spends so much time up on stands I'm thinking of getting some of the big truck ones to give myself a bit more space underneath but I'm not sure if the convenience is worth the expense.

I'm not sure, I wouldn't put it past Chris to be using 6000kg stands and he did say he has to use a high lift jack to get the car high enough to get it under.

follow up question, all you guys seem to be quoteing weight per stand, all the ones in the shop where rated for the pair,

so is Peter's actually 2 sets of 2000kg pairs, or 2 sets of 4000kg pairs , and San's has 2 pairs of 6000kg or am i reading it all wrong? or did you guys buy 4 packs rated for all 4 or each or what?

I'm pretty sure the load ratings on the packs are for each stand in the pack so if you get a pair of Kinchrome 2000kg jack stands each stand will be rated to carry 2000kg.

That being said, even if it is a combined rating for the pair, 2000kg will be more than enough for a Zed.

Correct. My stands are 6000kg each stand. Mainly for height. As I've had 4x4's previously. So very excessive for a zed but great for height.

Dave you can always borrow them. Don't need to ask. So which stand would you like for holding up the pc monitor while your playing with the auto cad 3d modeling program?

You rock my socks with all this battleship mumbo jumbo ;) your aus300zx's own personal lord or war. :)

    Isn't it great?

If you email him have a look at his sig on his emails too, the best anti-spam protection there is.

'Commander: Air Warfare Destroyer Alliance' or something. As if even a spambot is going to risk hassling that.

Don't piss me off otherwise I door deliver a typhoon. It is a polite missile to it will knock before it enters, be it a very loud knock.
When the ship is a little more together I'll see if I can organise a ship visit.
