Hey, I had my fuel pump out the other day and I was just wondering if it's a stock one or not. I was told by the dealer when I bought the car that it had an aftermarket pump but as a few other things I was told the car had turned out to be not entirely accurate I thought I'd ask before I put it back in. My car was leaning out a bit last time it was on the dyno but could just be from a bad tune. The car wasen't tuned by a zed expert but he is definatly a microtech expert. Is there something about the zed that requires a richer tune than your average jap turbo? I know the rear cylinders can run hotter etc but this guy is known for his conservative tuning so I don't think he was pushing it particularly hard or dangerously. Anyway, here is the pump, even if it's stock supposedly it's good for more power than I have currently anyway so is probly unrelated to the leaning out issues. The nissan symbol probably gives it away is my guess but dosen't hurt to get a second opinion Cheers Ben
i dont think jecs is stock, they do make factory parts for zeds i think but i dont think they did the stock fuel pump
looks like the one I pulled out I recently posted my experience with changing the fuel pump and the one I removed looks exactly like your picture it was Jecs. I had a massive power increase by changing the pump. http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=271015&highlight=jecs+fuel+pump
Aftermarket... Thats the prob with A/M pumps, you don't know the output rating. Even the factory pumps reduce output with age. If you are in ANY doubt, you should hook up an inline pressure guage in situ after the fuel filter and go for a hard run (especially if you are trying to increase power output). There is a tech article from TT how someone hooked up a guage onto the windscreen cowling so could note pressure under full load/boost... Otherwise, this IS one of those zed parts that you can say "When in doubt, throw it out"
Is that attempted humor? because if it is, you are one dry mf,er. I only asked because I'm old pissed off and blind.
I have this exact same pump which I brought off Trademe here in NZ. It came out of a TT 300ZX so I assumed it was a stocker. I fitted it to my Stagea (RB26DETT) but found it wasn't supplying enough fuel for the motor. I suspected it was perhaps an NA pump. I have since learned that apparently the TT Z32's run a 3 stage setup fuel controller so I intend to try it again & hard earth it to bypass it. In my opinion you have either an NA fuel pump or a stock TT pump..............in which case so do I
Hmmmm. Is your RB modified in any way? What size injectors? From what i've been reading about pumps for a TT lately it seems that just a new stock one is the way to go. I know there was some good deals on Walbro's going around not too long ago. Can anyone who's fitted one comment on how they are performing for them? I understand that there is alot of copies getting around that are prone to failure so i'd want to make sure I got the real deal. Ben
Is it from a 2 seater/2+2 TT or n/a i just got a New OEM one for a 2 seater TT and its black, no writing on it.
It's from a 2+2 TT Shouldnt the pump be the same and only the pickup is different? I'm confused now lol
errm, I assume your not talking about the rubber sleeve that is black and no writing? I took it off to take the above picture. Just wanted to clarify, i'm not sure if a new pump comes with the rubber or not. Ben
if its an OEM pump it should have the writing shown like in the above pic. 2 seater and 4 seater are the same pumps. only difference is between tt and na. ps. the tt pump has B71 written and the na has B67. hope that helps. Chris
Ok well it's probly best to assume I have a 20 year old stock pump and replacing it it the way to go. Cheers everyone. Ben
