With out pulling the rh head. With out removing the engine.The USA model as per manual is possible. The Aus/jspec has the steering box in the way .Has anyone done this or are there too many associated problems? cbzx.
I doubt it Chris, as you rightly say the steering box is in the way plus the steering input shaft. You could do as Chewy suggested I do when I pulled the engine and that was to drop the front end out or at least down. That certainly gives you more room but if youve got gorilla hands..... well I think its going to be tough:wacko::wacko: Have you cooked a turbo?
I think you can, if your game enough. I removed the Left hand manifold off the car with the turbo attached from under as the manual says. Had to bend spanners and cut other in half etc. Not to mention undoing bolts and nuts with about 2 degrees of rotation each time as space was tight, That's what takes up most of the time. Well for me any way. You will have to remove the brake master cylinder and booster, oil filter and a few other bits in pieces down there. But I reckon its do able. If you cant afford to pull the motor. I would give it a go if my RH turbo carked it. Or if the gasket went, which was the case for me. Saved lots of money for a $6 gasket.
