Yes, but I would go for ...

STILLEN Brake Upgrade, Stage 2 (90-96 Z32) Skyline rotors & calipers, for those of you who have upgraded the horsepower capabilities on your 300ZX, better brakes take on an even more important role. Being able to stop a powerful (and somewhat heavy) car repeatedly from high speed, requires a larger braking system than what comes stock on the 300X. The Skyline kit you see here features (larger-size) front and (same-size) rear rotors that are cross-drilled and axially-vented. They are thicker and more durable than the stock rotors. Also included in the kit are bolt-on larger front calipers and their hanging pins. This is a superb choice for increased stopping power while fitting within the stock 16" wheels (you may also use larger wheels too).

Yeh but the R32 Brakes would only cost a >>

    fraction of the stillen upgrade

I'm surprised that anyone would suggest>

cross-drilled rotors, given the constant criticism on this forum re; cracking of such discs.
    What diameter are these discs:?)
I'm using R33 324mm discs and caliper adaptors from UAS (slotted not drilled), and they work very well.Cheers

R32 GTR / R33 GTS brakes are bigger

    R32 GTR & R33 GTS Disc dia = 296mm x 32mm thick
    R32, R33 & R34 GTR V Spec disc dia = 324mm x 30mm thick
    Stock 300ZX TT Disc dia = 280mm x 30mm thick
A standard R32 GTR / R33 GTS brake upgrade will bolt on wilthout any problems,
but if you go the V Spec Disc you will have to use adaptor brackets or fine a pair of Brembo
calipers from a V Spec GTR.
    Or
Use 300ZX TT cailpers with adaptors plus the V Spec Discs as there is no difference between a standard R32 GTR / R33 GTS caliper
(other than the distance from centre of the mounting bolt holes on the caliper to the piston centre) and a 300ZX TT caliper.

I have run R32 GTR brakes

not that impressed. You're basically getting 12mm (or is it 18) of extra diameter, and a mm or 2 in width. Pads and pistons are identical to Z brakes. I was offered $400 and was very happy to sell them for that, I noticed no gain on the street or track. The stock R32 cross drilled rotors are not chamferred, and don't last long when majorly heated up:
[image]http://www.neuralmotion.com/forum/events/avo/cracked2.jpg[/image]The Stillen R32 kit is for the American sucker market, I don't think it's even remotely worth it, but they can't get second hand calipers in the US so they have to pay new prices.Ben

If you want the ultimate in brakes have a

look at ebay - the american one though not the aussie one. They sell adaptors for the front disks that the calipers go onto in order to accomodate GT3000 disks. The guy selling them has this done on his Z and seems to be thrilled with them.
Apparantly, they are humangous and best part is that you keep your calipers.
If I had to upgrade, I would go down this path. The only catch is you need 17inch rims or greater to accomodate the extra disk space, etc..Peter

    Cracked rotors

My rotors have badly cracked again. Using Greenstuff pads, they seem to work very well but generate to much heat for the rotors.
    Desperate for a brake upgrade.
Was someone in Vic organising a group buy of GTR rotors and spacers? Enufz?

Space saver spare won't fit over R34 brakes

or any of the aftermarket big front brake kits either. If you get a flat on the front you will have to fit the spare on the back of the zed and then fit the rear wheel (assuming it's 17"+) to the front. Because of the large wheel arch on the front of the zed you can fit a rear wheel easily but it will poke out past the guard a bit. If you are still using standard zed wheels, then I'm afraid you won't be able to go much bigger with front rotors unless you spend some $$$ on wheels as well. Funny how on the zed one expense inevitably leads to another :s

I have 17s and can fit 275 tyres on them (n/m)

And umm, it's R32 not R34. Maybe have to get run-flat tyres? ;) You change one thing, change everything in a Z.:-Z

    heap.
One member is definatly keen so I'm going to try and get 1 set of adapters made for them. The caliper adapters were alot more expensive than originally thought - $275.00 pair.
    4000 series rotors $285.00 each
    5000 series rotors $415.00 eachCheers

    I am using a Supra spacesaver spare>

with an 8mm spacer as the rim will not seat on the hub centre (hole in rim too small).Definitely for emergencies only.:N( Cheers

I saw a few guys who got rid of their spacer

tyres. They just got a hole repair kit and their pump in the space instead. If your halfway handy its pritty easy to repair 90% of punctures on the side of the road unless its a massive blowout. Saves a fair bit of room too.
