You have a couple of options...

    You could:

Find a place that has recovered someone's Zed seats and grab the old material to use on your bolster or source some material from a trashed chair at the wreckers.

Use new material although it will stand out as being different to the rest of the 15 year old material.

Do what I did...remove a couple of threads of material from the inside of the map holder on the back of the passenger seat. Then use these to stitch the hole back together. Mine is hardly noticeable now. I also used some cloth in the hole to cushion the bolster again.

Okay okay I admit it...it cost me dinner for the girlfriend's mother...she's a dress maker. She used the same thread to stitch up a cigarette hole too!

    I was very lucky

The trimmer I went to couldnt believ it either.

One of his emplyees had the seats from a ZX in his ute complete with electrics working.

When I asked him about the leather, and I staggered back about the cost. I asked him about seat repairs for my hole.

he went up to the rack and pulled out a whole set of seat covers that had come off the utes seats.

Quoted me $120 to fix mine.

Now it looks like it brand new.

He repacked the wadding and put new harder foam around the steel hoop that you can feel in the seat side.

Now that is just blind good luck he had that material.

Heres a picture of the finshed seat.

I would love the leather, but it will have to wait till I can afford it. That's the ultimate in luxury.

In the meantime the stock one looks damn good and is complete and unmarked

I know people go crazy about leather.....

but damn it gets hot and sticky in the summer. Thats one thing I love about the tweed or any cloth seat. It doesnt burn your arse when hot..:)

    Cheers

    Also

You can sink a little in the 'tweed' seats. My brothers leather seats on his SVX (dunno if 300ZX ones are the same) are really hard. Dunno if I would like that for long distances. Also as well as being really hot in summer, they get freezing cold in winter.

The ultimate for me would be the suede ones. If anyone has a whole interior one for sale...... :)

The leather seats don't burn my arse in summer

but then I keep my pants on while I'm driving :p :p , I guess it can be a bit hot on the back of the legs if I've got shorts on.
