Just got a quote for full comp insurance and I am very happy to say that apparently I am twice as trustworthy than I was 1 year ago, with the quote going from $4570 last year to $2107!

Last year was a bit rich for my liking but with this price I think ill be stepping up to get a bit more piece of mind in the year comming. Only getting 5 grand if my car was stolen seems a bit lame to me! Especially if I am going to spend more money on mods!

    Thats awesome

unlike mine which went from $4900ish to over $5000 the next year :wacko: The bodykit and wheels must have made me a very untrustworthy person!!:wacko: (and yes, mine was through justcars, and no way did I bother insuring it for that amount).

I am wondering if you can get 3rd party fire and theft but covered for an agreed value? Some cover you a few thousand, but I wonder if an insurance group can cover over $20K for example. If they would then that would probably be what I would go for

    Don't think so!

I am currently paying $800p/year for up to 5 grand if its stolen or goes up in smoke. Im pretty sure 800 is the max aswell, so if that sounds OK thats through Justcars too. And you can get it in ACT/NSW now!

Car insurance is the biggest load of crap

with any other type of insurance you tell them how much your stuff is worth but with cars they decide and it's never close to replacement value. I'm guessing there'd be a lot of people in a similar situation to me in regard to $$ put into their car vs insured value. I paid 18k for my car in poor condition 6 years ago, rebuilt the engine and new turbos $15k, new paint $3k, wheels $3k, and another few grand on other stuff like stereo and cf bonnet and I'm only insured for $17k. It would cost me closer to double that to replace like for like considering the other parts on the car when I bought it. I hate it! They wont cover carbon bonnets either because they apparently cost too much. Last time I checked they cost about the same as a new ally bonnet. Regardless of that, WTF, when you take out contents insurance they don't say they can't insure your plasma TV because it's too expensive.

My insurance is only about $1700pa btw. with all mods listed.
When I first got my car I paid $5400 to insure it with Shannons for the first year, at 23y.o. I didn't check how much it would be before I bought it, didn't even consider it being close to that.

yer, so it could still get better as I get older!

I only have minor mods so far so Its not a huge concern for me at this point...
I could get a roughly equivilent car with the payout

Not sure at this point john, looks like it was just a pool of oil somewhere

Because it hasn't leaked since I was at UAS, so Im not 100% sure if there is a problem at all, hard to justify 7 hours drive when I need to be back down for work a week and a 1/2 later anyway!

Im going to degrese the engine bay today and we'll see if any more oil apears in sus locations if so then I can justify the trip.

Its worth pulling apart when Im back in canberra just to make sure though, can't be too careful with the timing belt!:(
