Quick question about the inlet cam gears, I tried moving the mechanism by putting a spare camshaft in a vice, dropping the gear on top and trying to move the outside of the gear ( no spring or cover installed). It was solid as a rock.
Is this normal? I didn't use any levers or anything, just by hand.
I'm a bit worried they might be seized, but I don't really know what sort of mechanism is inside so I'm not sure.
    Any help much appreciated!

    Thanks Syntax,

They definitely were not doing that. I had a bit more of a think about it today and feel like my test method was pretty dumb, if I could move them by hand then they would rattle like crazy under operation. I found a cutaway picture that made me feel that they should be ok, the helix is pretty steep and has a nice heavy spring behind it.
