EARLY/LATE STYLE INJECTOR CONNECTORS FOR AUSPEC ZEDS .... ?????

I am aware that, for J-Spec vehicles, Early Style Injector Connectors were OEM for the 90-92 NA, the 93 Convertible and the 90-94 TT. Later Zeds were fitted with "Later Style" Injector Connectors.

MY QUESTION: Does anyone know whether Australian imported zeds went through the same or a similar change with Injector Connectors:

    - did they come in with initially with the Early Style ...???

    - was the Style changed at any point ... ???

    - my specific query relates to a 1993 AUSPEC and whether it might have either the Early or Late Style Connectors.

many thanks for any assistance available.

You'll probably find they will be in similar changes to the jspec vehicles.

Does yours have the retaining clip that is a prick to get off. Where it sits firmly on 3 sides of the connector and once removed resemble a U shape with the bends being tightly 90 degrees? Or are they easy to grip and remove with quick release Bosch styled connectors?

I seem to recall the 93 models still used the old style connector. And changed right at the end of the year... Will look into it.

Are you wanting to replace yours?

I think this is an equiry on my behalf....thanks Baz :) Its a 93 auspec auto. The plugs for my coil packs are just a push on... i think Bosch style....all my injectors and some other plugs around the bay have that stupid "u" shaped clip :(

By the looks of your pics Baz i believe it should fit on? being same colour and shape?

    Thanks all

The coil pack plugs are all the same over the years. So that's easy done. But going by what you're saying the injector and other connectors are the early style connector with the u retaining clip. You can still buy these but are annoying when old and brittle. In the for sale section i think it was chilli or baz that had a package deal for newer style bosch connectors for the injectors. They have a quick release u clip design and are much easier to install and remove as needed.

Are you wanting to replace your connectors?

My Zed has the old style and when i bought it i replaced them but stupid me put the old style back on. I have since replaced all the other injector style connectors in the engine bay with the new easier style. One day i will redo the injector ones as the are a pain in the arse to get off , although i have worked out to use a seal remover pick with a magnetic pick up tool they still shit me. GO THE NEW STYLE

Yes it was Baz selling the injector plugs and also the coil packs, I'm doing a plenum pull soon so I'm collecting parts so I can do it all at once. They are old now and some are cracked so its a must do job on the list ;)

Thanks for that .. would appreciate if you could look into it.

The Injector Connectors i sell are the BOSCH style quick release I/Connectors which replace, as i understand it, the "Early Style" Connectors ... they do not suit, as i understand it, the "Later Style" Connectors.

What we really need is a look at I/Connectors on a pre 93 AUSPEC and on 93+ AUSPEC to determine whether there is a difference.

thanks for the help so far guys ... please keep it coming ...

I think you'll find the Bosch replacement connectors that suit the early connectors don't suit the newer injectors connectors as they have the center locating recess in the wrong spot. The side guides are fine but the middle one is offset differently. I recall this from one of my old zeds when I replaced them with the new style Bosch connectors. I had to shave off the middle guide so they would work. A little arse about face but they work.

The new Bosch connectors I can source easily through work are the new Bosch type and suit the later models. Perfectly fine if you want to shave the injectors.

Will sus it out again though been a few years since i last did one.

Thanks for that Mr S .....

the Bosch style, quick release I/Connectors which i sell as a replacement for the "early style" OEM do require the minor trim you mention (the fix is to shave a little off the OEM Injector lug with a sharp blade and the new plug will slide over easy as ...)

Both K-zed (previous seller of these) and myself, combined, have sold hundreds of these Connectors without issue.

as i understand it, the "later style" I/Connectors identified in my opening Post are a different style of Connector again and not subject to the "fix" .... but i stand to be corrected and/or clarified on this point.

Too true. I'm tending to think I'm confusing myself a little. As mentioned it's been a few years since I played with it all. The later model connectors have a oval style connector body don't they? All I know for sure is the connectors i sourced had to have the locating lug shaved off. To which sounds identical to the style you've been selling. But there was a second connector sourced that was a direct replacement. Going to have to look back through my work diary where I wrote it all down.

Trying to recall dated information at 12.45 isn't working too well for me ATM. Haha.

Will revisit this tomorrow once I check my info.
