trying to finally fit the chili brace but having difficulties now i know the best way for fitment is that the hex bolt head should contact the M/Cyl but should it fit in the hex shaped hole on the M/Cyl because mine does not and when the brace is bolted to the chasis the hex bolt head is no where near inline with the hole. Can some one please calrify so i can finish this job off. Cheers guys.
Nope the hex shaped head of the bolt Should just butt up against the cylinder. You should even be able to manage a few turns with a spanner once it's in finger tight as the firewall has most likely flexed a little over the years. Just be careful and if in doubt don't force it. Then screw the grub screw in from the other side (to secure the bolt) and secure this with the locking nut.
Different model BMCyls have various end plates & ... .. a few have the hex head you describe. It may be necessary to pack the clearance with a plate or washer, securely located, to get adjustment tight against forward end of the BMC. It is not necessary (and prolly impossible) to have the brace adjustment bolt located into the BMC hex head recess.
By the way ... (Info for newbies) The Chili BMCyl Brace should be a mandatory early upgrade to your Zed. It is NOT so much the firewall that moves, rather the brake booster which expands upon depressing brake pedal. A BMC brace 'arrests' the otherwise lost pedal pressure and improves braking feel & response. Furthermore, Chili's product permits fitment of a strut brace without modification and also adds BLING to your engine bay! Any doubters? Get a helper to depress your brake pedal whilst you observe BMCyl & booster movement.
Fitted and blinging  thanks for the help guys it just wasn't making sense to me at the time
