Ignition barrel

So I just swapped out all my locks yesterday and decided to tackle the ignition this morning and besides the light and the connector at the back of the ignition barrel, there was an extra two wires running into the barrel with no connectors. I couldn't find anything about those two wires and thought it might be for the chime when you leave your key in the ignition so I just cut it. I couldn't find a proper way to disconnect it and the replacement barrel had a blanking plate where the wires went in to the original.

After fitting everything back in, everything worked but now I can't shift out of park without using the shift lock. Anyone have any idea what those two wires are?

    Thanks in advance

The wires work on a circuit similar to the button shift lock. Putting your key in the ignition, completes the circuit, and allows you to move the shifter.

You've fitted a manual key set which doesnt need the key to "unlock" the shifter...

At a guess you'd maybe have to supply 12v to one or both wires, depending on their role with the shifter (solenoid perhaps?)
