Okay so imagine you've taken care of your Z, exhaust done, suspensions and brakes sorted, she also looks like you would want her to, you are allowed to spend 1000 bucks on engine mods, what would you buy? it can be new or secondhand, it doesnt matter
Intercooler(s), injectors & boost controller. All parts will give you more power and safety, engine wise.
get it tuned for $1000 or be boring sensible and chuck it in the bank. i would do the latter. there's no point putting intercoolers and bigger injectors in if you don't tune it at the same time. $1000 will not get you both so the best option is just put better coolers on, crank up a boost a bit within safely and bank the change.
$1000 I would go: FMIC $350 Turbotech Boost Controller $35 3A Pod Filter $25 JECs 550cc Injectors $520 delivered ECU Chip $75 There you go, just over $1005. You'll be able to boost safely to around 17psi and well over 250rwkw. Not sure how long the turbos and clutch will last so those'll be the best things to budget for after that. Cheers :zlove:
thats nice!!! injectors i'm getting jamies one, but instead of the chip i'd rather go with the nistune or similar, and would the FMIC fit the stock front bumper?
Safety can't hurt right? With a stock setup isn't it injectors and coolers that start giving out at higher boost?
Not sure what PSI the injectors run out at? Stock intercoolers are struggling above 14psi (intake temps getting too hot). Not sure about injectors...? Fitting new injectors and fitting and tuning aftermarket management seems to be a massive pain in the arse if you're not going to see any benefit from it.
How hard you planning to push those stock turbos? By all means keep spending money on parts, it keeps the forum economy running, but have you thought this stuff through?
Hmm , stock turbos past 16psi won't do anything really .. Plus it's a accident waiting to happen, Stock injectors will handle that fine. I had stock injectors on 240rwkw. I mean each to their own, but it's not really a necessity
I dunno man, coolers and injectors with a tune to suit would be pretty close to 1k, pretty good upgrade over stock if you boost it to 16psi I'd say? Plus you then have the gear to go higher if you want. I'm just going by what I've read, never played with a stock TT, but if it was me I'd be doing those things.
Well going by 1cc/rwhp rule of thumb stock injectors should max out around 276rwkw. Most TT's with stock turbos are pushing around 215-230rwkw with bolt on mods, which the stock injectors should be able to handle no probs. I understand what you're saying, but I do think that upgrading injectors and ECU on an otherwise stock car is pissing money down the drain.
Turbosmart boost tee $100 Apexi Power Intake kit $120 Godspeed Side Mounts $250 N power 2.5" catback exhaust $550
Why would you go to the trouble of a twin intake system on a car with stock turbos? Not going to be anywhere close to maxing out the AFM?
