my nismo lightweight flywheel? Or is that flywheel specifically for the twin plate clutch that i'm using?

It has only been machined once.

Flywheel should be O.K, pressure plate has to match the clutch plate:)

sweet thanks, i'm deciding if I should get my twin plate reco'd or not. They believe they can make it last longer than stock with no problems, or if I should just buy another one.. will find out saturday, now i'm getting hassled to hurry up and deliver parts so the short block can get assembled :p

Was it a multiplate Nismo clutch? If so then you might not be able to use another clutch with it.

An OS Gieken flywheel is specifically for a OS Geiken clutch and won't work with other clutches.

Have you thought of having you're Nismo rebuilt?

Just remember the clutch plate cops a flogging but the pressure plate does the important work. Recon, replace as a pair:)

Yep that's it, a GMAX 2, I think rated at 1100hp. The guys at race brakes may be able to reco it back to new condition with pads that will last longer than the stock material which lasted a very long time. The clutch isn't slipping or anything but I want to get it all hotted up before I get the rotating assembly balanced.

I will ask them if they can replace the intermediate plate if it is worn down, if not, they should be able to put thicker padding on the clutch plates do make up for it. I don't see why they can't do that?

When I had mine out (single plate) the pressure plate was pretty scorred up from slipping and the rivets on the friction disc were biting in  So as long as your plate and springs are in good nick should be alright.

IB's right they are made for the specific clutch - although i was talking the Exedy clutch guys at autosalon and they said that they make the nismo GMAX2 for nissan so they are similar to theirs.

You definately cant use it with a single plate.

I had my GMAX2 reco'd for $1200 iirc. Exedy said that any of their dealers will be able to point you in the right direction to get it rebuilt.

I think its an awesome clutch i would never want to go back to all the weight of a single plate again ...

The GMAX2, like any multiplate clutch has retaining walls on the flywheel to hold the intermediate plate(s) in place. You will never be able to use the flywheel on any other clutch system due to this and the fact that the pressure plate almost always bolts onto these walls instead of the actual flywheel base.
