Just wondering if I could fish for some advice here...

I've recently found that my Zed's idle frequently drops down to about 500 after I throttle-off, but then rises back to its normal 750ish. It's not a huge issue, although it does make driving smoothly a bit difficult at times with the gear changes.

I did a search and found some stuff pointing to the IAAC, however I coudn't really understand it. Am I going down the right path?

I've also just recently gone to a light-weight flywheel.... could this contribute to the idle problems at all?

    Thanks heaps,
    Shihong

A number of things will cause your idle drop.

You IAAC valve *can* if the AAC solonoid is sticking, just needs a good dismantle and clean out, also the hose that runs from the passenger side intake pipes to the IAAC valve could have a split in it, but this will generally cause a higher idle.

A lighter flywheel can cause your problem, mine didn't, but due to being a lighter weight theres less inertia to keep it spinning, but I think you'll find it's related elsewhere and the heavier flywheel was just masking the symptom.

Also Adjustable BOV's if set to soft will cause an extreme rich mixture on throttle off after boost and can cause the car to stall.

Also Boost/vac leaks, electrical connectors and the usual culprits.

I'd be walking down the IAAC path and pulling it off and giving it a good soaking and clean out. Reset your base idle to about 800 and see how you go, it's about a 1hour job. Even money thats where the issue is.

    Agree with Andy.

Also, if symptom occurs whilst a/c on it could be FIDC not working or dirty connectors.

will.i.am updtd garage! chek it out

if it makes you feel any better my ZED idles at whatever it decides.

it fluctuates between 2000 rpm and a stall...

come to think of it, could this be my PTU it hasnt bee relocated???

    Sorry to hijack tha thread...
