Just noticed a weird squeaking coming from the underside of the zed this morning. Only happens when clutch is engaged, and when the clutch is engaged it only happens under lift-off or mild acceleration. Thinking clutch or maybe tranny mounts? Clutch isnt slipping at all and theres no other effect other than the rubbery squeaky noise...
So you can't replicate the noise by bouncing the rear when stationary and engine off? Not bush squeak from squat? Could be trans mount or drive shaft bush movement?
Got a 1 piece, I'm assuming only the 2 pieces have the bush in the center bearing? Can't replicate with bouncing, but wouldnt the noise remain during greater than mild acceleration
Ah ok one piece fixes all. What's the chances it's the firewall coming away from the floor pan? I remember years ago hearing of the problem the z32 had when pressing the clutch it would flex the firewall creating a noise. Furthermore it would be noticed again when the chassis is being flexed. Ill have to look into the old threads again, as there was a few points to inspect for separation to dictate if there was indeed damage. Your assumption would be true that if it were anything sinister that under hard acceleration it would occur an if not more violently. It's nothing as simple as the slave and clutch fork making noise is it? The squeak is it continuous or short sounded?
stock fly, clutch was in before i bought it - and i dont know what it is (just that its blue) it doesn't feel/perform much different from stockers tho Got louder today, almost sounds abit like intermittent belt screech (but if i have screeching belts I should expect the familliar noise on start up right?). Might have a look that way - belts were changed in April '11 and have been fine since so its semi-hard to believe if it is...
