be ok to just plug this one straight in to see how it goes? Will it stuff anything up? Sorry to be a nob just don't know much about them and would like to make sure my Zed goes ok with it, before I decide to get it chipped. It is out of a 91 Jap import manual NA the same as mine. Thanx Guys

Did you buy it from a forum member or off ebay or a wrecker? If your not sure what tune the ecu is running (some of them have crazy timing and fuel maps...) then don't chuck it in just yet (well I wouldn't but I'm abit paranoid about something going wrong...). Maybe open it up and see if it's been previously socketed or if you can see if a new chip has been soldered in.

I bought it off the forum, they said they had it as

a spare, so they could send their ECU in to get chipped and still have the use of their Zed while it was away getting done. He didn't say it was chipped or mapped or anything but will PM him and ask.
    Thanx Fran :)

If the ECU is just a stock one then it will work fine, is your car auto or manual? Auto ECU's work in autos and manuals, but not the other way round.

Some of the jap aftermarket chips have some crazy tunes on them. Someone at Warwick had a rev limit of 10500rpm and no safety map

It's a manual and so is the ECU thank goodness.

Thanx guys for the info. Just wanted to make sure that if I put it in to test it, it will be ok just to put the old one back in afterwards with no glitches from trying it. Thanx for the info
